I think 361 & 740 are asking for the same thing (see below). Although 740 wants the ability to do it for a specific region. OK by me (361 was mine).
In response to nohal's comment on 740, yes, that is kinda how it is supposed to
work, but it only ingests as many as it can before it times out. So, you have to run it over and over if you have many ENCs. I finally gave up trying to get it to finish mine last time I tried (
many months ago, so someone correct me if that has changed).
To recap for those who don't want to go read the links above:
FS-361:
Batch "ingest" for
ENC charts.
I would be fine with even a command line to allow batch ingest of all
ENC charts in a directory or directory structure.
This would allow for disk space planning, as well as speeding up scrolling around.
FS-740:
I'd like to be able to run a script that would pre-digest charts for a given place and zoom level, or region.
nohal's comment:
Already possible to some extent with the -unit_test_1 command line switch (see
Troubleshooting | Official OpenCPN Homepage). If you organize your charts to a folder structure that reflects your needs, it will do pretty much exactly what you ask for.
