Toshiba WT8-B and CM93 chart labels

I have OpenCPN 5.0.0 installed on a Toshiba WT8-B Encore tablet. Most things are working great with CM93 charts, but I can't seem to get feature names (islands, passes, cities, etc.) to appear. Depth contours are labelled. Tide and current icons are labelled with the present value. So fonts are working at some level.

What trick am I missing to turn on chart feature names?
