As far as I know all Plugin Icon issues are solved, as long as the plugin doesn't deallocate the memory for the icon bitmaps it sets for it's tool.
(So icon bitmaps mus be static or malloc'ated on the heap. Locally scoped variables allocated on the stack will crash)

This issue resolved in 3.1.802. PlugIn Icons will be cached by the PlugIn manager.

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

With some useful feedback I updated the TidalCurrents plugin.

The dialog screen is less obtrusive.

The kmz file on the screen disappears when the plugin is deactivated, provided you scroll the chart a little.

The plugin will display a kmz area outside the area of the chart in use without crashing OpenCPN.

You do need 13 kmz files in the folder you select. HW-6 to HW to HW+6 etc.

No HW or time calculations yet.

HW for some UKHO chartlets people may be using might not be Dover HW.

The updated plugin, libexpat.dll and sample kmz files are here:

https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B4...wwN2ZvcmM/edit

Sample is for SW England.

I will put the source code on GitHub when it has been tidied up a bit.

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

The latest version of the EUTidalCurrents plugin is available from google docs:

https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B4...wwN2ZvcmM/edit

Source code is available from github:

https://github.com/Rasbats

Thanks again to SethDart for his work with the KMLOverlay plugin, which forms the basis of the EUTC plugin. The source files reflect this.

Mike..

How compatible is the Tidal current plugin with the work Jesper and Phillippe has
been doing with qtVlm/OpenCPN compatability?

Presently wind.grib and tidal.gribs are combined to make the optimized route.

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

Tore,

My plugin builds on the work of SethDart. It allows kmz files to be overlaid on the OpenCPN chart. By using folders containing 13 kmz files made from scans of UKHO Tidal Stream Atlases (or similar) it is possible to produce a digital tidal stream atlas, easily accessed from within OpenCPN.

The information won't be compatible with Qt/VLM work.

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

The UKHO Tidal Stream Atlases for the UK and North European Waters are now available on DVD:

The Tidal Stream plugin for OpenCPN : by VisitMyHarbour [Charts for OpenCPN and Polar Navy] - VisitMyHarbour articles

These can be used with the EUTidalCurrents plugin or opened with Google Earth.

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

Having finally installed the Tidal Stream plugin for OpenCPN as well as the sample files, where do I find today´s tidal stream data? I used the plugin to select a path to the sample files but only the actual Path is visible in the window, not the actual sample files?

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

Tore,

Just select the folder name and press HW etc and the tidal arrows will show.

The sample is for waters around the Cornish coast.

(With the current version of the VisitMyHarbour tidal streams the DVD has to be in the drive of the computer while the tidal streams are being viewed)

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

Sure... but I lived and sailed for 20 years in the UK... and still like to keep up-to-date.

There is also a german URL sending out tidalstream data covering most of Northern Europe in .grib format acceptable to OpenCPN and qtVlm.

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

SailorF54

The VMH DVD has 20 UKHO Tidal Stream Atlases in digital form (kmz).

Notes about using these tidal atlases, please read first. : by VisitMyHarbour [Tidal Streams] - VisitMyHarbour articles

Tore

The problem of offering downloads of the data is a security issue. A work in progress I think.

Re: Tidal Current plugin for European Waters Again

Hi,

I've installed the Tidal plugin in my O-Version 3.3.711 Build 2013-07-11 according to the instructions EU Tidal Currents

For some reason I don't get the kmz-files to show up. These are copied to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\TIDAL STREAM ATLASES

The log doesn't show any errors.

Anyone who can help?
