Re: Tactics Plugin

System : Ubuntu 22.04 - OpenCPN 5.8.2
I am struggling getting Wind-History and Average-Wind-Direction working consistently. Sometime it does after launching OpenCPN and at other times, it does not ?!

The nmea network data stream look stable, the dials are always working as well as GPS position.

Sometime switching the network connection from TCP to UDP and restarting OpenCPN solve the issue but I am not sure it is 100% related.

Any hints anyone...please ?

Re: Tactics Plugin

--UPDATE --
Further investigation reveals OpenCPN need to be clause and re-lauched AND the plug-in need to be reinstall whenever the connection setting changes (ex: TCP for UDP or COM). The nmea-0183 data stream only parses the $GPxxx sentences from the GP device and drops my other devices $IIxxx containing sentences from the wind instrument.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hi,
Under ubuntu my tactics plugin is "grayed", I can not uninstall, update or whatever ...?
Does anybody knows why and how to remove it to reinstall properly.
I installed it a while ago through the plugin manager.I tried to uninstall it manually in command line? I cant not. the package opencpn-plugin-tactics (or similar) does not exist.

Many thanks for your help.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Do a search for something like libtactics.so or libtactics_pi find that directory and remove the tactics files.

Thanks !
I could remove it but it is not proposed anymore via the opencpn plugin manager.
Is there any way to re-install properly ?

Re: Tactics Plugin

Good Can you send us your opencpn.log as a file attachment here? Rename it by adding .pdf.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Try updating your plugin catalog file from the plugin manager (PIM)

Re: Tactics Plugin

I of course did update plugin catalog, nothing better.
I tried to clean opencpn.conf, deleting tactics entries, nothing better.

I finally uninstalled opencpn (purge), removed ~/.opencpn and ~/.local/.opencpn, and reinstall opencpn from scratch.
Tactics plugin does not appear in the plugin manager ... neither.
I can not install it.

Do you still need opencpn.log ?

Re: Tactics Plugin

Thanks for your help !
I use opencpn 5.8.4 (the latest apt update with the opencpn depo installed)
I'm on Ubuntu 22.04 (jammy)

I don't use any other plugins but the default ones (Grib, Dashboard...etc). I usually also use "Weather routing", but it is not available on Ubuntu through plugin manager. I use it on windows.
I tried plugin DashboardSK to test, it works, I could install and uninstall through the plugin manager on my Ubuntu install.

I purged opencpn and reinstall from scratch again this morning. tactics is still not proposed by Plugin manager on Ubuntu... Everything is fine on Windows.

Strange isn't it ?

Re: Tactics Plugin

The TP plugins are all listed here.
https://github.com/jongough/testplugin_pi/issues/177

Do any of these appear in you plugins list so that they can be installed and run?

Also Ocpn_draw_pi and testplugin_pi?

If not, there may be a problem with the build or with protections in PIM.

Please attach your opencpn.conf and opencpn.log files too.

Re: Tactics Plugin

As far as I could see, The TP plugins you listed are not proposed in my Opencpn under Ubuntu.
here is an idea of what is proposed :

find attached opencpn.conf and opencpn.log.
opencpn_conf.pdf
opencpn_log.pdf

Bare in mind, this install is almost brand new but "update plugin Catalog"
Cheers.

Re: Tactics Plugin

It appears to me that there is either some problem with my version of testplugin 1.0.238 circleci/config.yml

- build-ubuntu-x86_64-2204-jammy:
<<: *std-filters

Or the PIM requirements and filters are not working. This needs a review by Dave R. and Jon G. I think.
