tactics and SignalK

The tactics plugin (1.0.20.0) doesn't seem to be able to retrieve NMEA data when OpenCPN's sole input is from a SignalK server.

Instruments such as heel, leeway, pitch, bearing compass, polar compass all show blank whereas dashboard instruments work. No laylines are shown on a tactics waypoint.

Re: tactics and SignalK

Tactics uses nmea 0183 data into OpenCPN. heel is dependent on B&G instruments I believe. Read the documentation.

Re: tactics and SignalK

Thank you for your brusque response.

I think that the point is that how the data arrives into openCPN should not be the issue. The plugin appears to be failing to use available data. The transport mechanism for the data is not usually relevant to the application layer.

Re: tactics and SignalK

Sorry, for being "brusque". Both of these plugins need to be updated, but does Tactics documentation say anything about being compatible with signalK? NO, but it should work if you the right nmea0183 data on the bus. Perhaps you can check with the Connections Nmea window?

The (old) tactics manual is easier to referencee

I really don't know why using signalk would block your nmea0183 data, that is more of an OpenCPN issue I think.

You might find more success with Dashboard-Tactics.

Keep in mind there are two versions, the earlier one I think it is 2.11 and the advanced one supports many extras including signalk, but it needs a special environment to run. See the documentation readmedocs please.
