Re: Statusbar Plugin

Schnapsy, out of curiosity, I set O to use my HDGraphics 3000 and the plugin works fine with or without opengl on. So it should be working on your 4000!

Rick,

Please do not be patronizing / condescending.
I intervene very little to ask, because generally, before posting a question, I read and reread everything that is related to the subject.

Of course, I had downloaded and installed GLviewer (link found on another thread relating to OpenGL problems) and I still have the same problem.

I would like to point out that this problem appears on all my PCs, even on the most recent, a Dell Inspiron 7506, Intel Iris Xe Graphics graphics card, with all the up-to-date drivers.

Everything works, even more demanding software like TimeZero.

Only this plugin claims to uncheck OpenGL to display the background.

To find the beginning of a solution and check if it is an installation-related problem, I will completely uninstall OpenCPN on a test PC, clean everything and then, install only this plugin ...

I would like to know if others also have this problem with just THIS plugin !?!?

I specify that the problem is not the plugin as such (which works well) but the display of the background ...

I don't use this plugin because it is useless. If you are not satisfied with the statusbar of the main OCPN program make a suggestion to Flyspray.

Re: Statusbar Plugin

Schapsy, sorry if I appeared patronizing, I am more puzzled by this problem and a little frustrated. I don't think uninstall of Opencpn will do anything. Perhaps it is something in the statusbar code, but why is it working ok for me? Maybe try a different color for the background?

Black works with my install. What is your transparency set at? That might be it.

I just tried it in Android and it seems to be working, but O portrait mode seems to have a problem with the new Android phone.

No problem, Rick.
I understand your annoyance over these opengl issues, but believe me, I checked everything first.

Indeed, uninstalling then reinstalling OpenCPN with just this plugin, has changed absolutely nothing.
What troubles me is that it doesn't work on any of the PCs I've tested this plugin on.
My transparency settings are like yours, cf # 89

To be sure that we are talking about the same thing, on your PC where the background is displayed, the OpenGL box is indeed checked ???

i uninstalled then reinstalled opencpn, with just this plugin, without any other modification or customization on Dell Inspiron 7506, Win10, Intel Iris Xe Graphics graphics card, with all the up-to-date drivers.

The plugin 0.7.8. was installed with the pluginManager.

The illustrations below show that the problem persists.

I have attached the opencpn.log file.

Thank you for your interest in this concern.

Re: Statusbar Plugin

@Schnapsy...

For OpenGL the background is not working here either - Win 8.1, OpenCPN 5.2.4, Statusbar 0.7.8.0.

Re: Statusbar Plugin

Okay, it has got to be something with the plugin. I just noticed that cmakelists.txt has

# Use local version of GLU library
set(USE_LOCAL_GLU TRUE) <----- THIS
# Prefer libGL.so to libOpenGL.so, see CMP0072
set(OpenGL_GL_PREFERENCE "LEGACY") #not operational???
# Don't use local version of GLU library
set(USE_LOCAL_GLU FALSE) #not operational ???? <------and This

I'll try rebuilding it with local glu true

Re: Statusbar Plugin

I just tried this on Win10 Pro version 1909 with OCPN 5.2.4+6b314e6 both with OpenGL and without and it displayed the status bar background as green then I changed it to orange. This was on a virtual machine running qemu/kvm.

I have also run it on Win 10 Pro version 1709 OCPN 5.2.4+6b314e6 both with OpenGL and without and it displayed the status bar background as green. This was on a virtual machine running on virtualbox.

I don't have a native windows box to do any other trials. The only way I could get the background not to show was by having the Status Bar Preferences/Background Color/Transparancy slider fully to the right.

Sorry, I cannot replicate what you are seeing. Perhaps it is a driver issue on your windows machines, but it will need someone with a real windows environment to get the problem then try to debug it through visual studio. Not much help I know, but....
