Split Screen

Hi
Is it possible to run Opencpn side by side to get Split screen?
And if so is it possible to have a complete second version with its own settings?
Running W10

Cheers

Hello Johan,

Yes it is possible with a portable version of OpenCPN.

Thanks!
Works perfect, now I only need to find out how to get OpenCPN to remember the size of my windows when I use restore/down button.

Re: Split Screen

Johan..
One little trick is to not exceed the OCPN window below or to close the activity field. If you've it "auto hide" you mustn't let OCPN grow all way down but stop above where the not auto hid panel would have been. Then your windows size will be restored on next start.
Also on a stand alone system I use to have all serials in to the "main" OCPN and use a output (no input!) network UDP connection 127.0.0.1 port 10110. On the portable input connection I use UDP IP 0.0.0.0 port 10110.

Question Re: Split Screen

I can display a split screen using a portable OpenCPN for the second screen. The problem is being able to connect both to one GPS input.

Previous versions of OpenCPN allowed virtual com ports (such as those created by NavMonPC program) to be used for GPS input. That capability has been lost with the current versions.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks ... in my haste I had overlooked and forgotten the capability.

Works fine now.

Re: Split Screen

With many thanks to Hakan I've revised my blurb on making a portable OpenCPN to include the split-screen configuration.

You can download it here.
