Selecting Details to be saved in Track

Hi;
Is it possible to select the details to be saved in the "Track". At present Speed is saved (SoG may have been better) - I would like to be able to select and save "Water Temperature". This would solve the question I asked at:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...cpn-99177.html

Cheers,
Andrew

Andrew...
all that's saved in a track is position, the speed is calculated from the two neighbouring points. The answer I gave you last time is still valid

Re: Selecting Details to be saved in Track

Thanks nohal (Pavel),
It would have made my "grand plan" easier.
I can now read Seatalk and record Lat, Lon, Temp etc and feed it as a GPX file into OCPN as a route. My s/w renames each waypoint to include the temperature (eg "WP03_29.2"). Showing the WP names shows the temperature along my route. My software sets the symbol for each WP to represent the min and max temperatures along the route.
This is really important in Australian waters because it can mean 50+nm per day.
Cheers, Andrew

Re: Selecting Details to be saved in Track

Andrew...
I had a very similar problem when working on the sometimes to be finished https://github.com/nohal/survey_pi prototype...
This stuff is useful for a very limited number of people and making it a core feature would just make the program slower for a vast majority of users - yes, I confess, you are the first person I have heard of getting correct temperature readings out of ST
What I sure will work on for the next release is an API for the navobjects, so a plugin will be able to access the track data, but I'm really not sure if I will make it possible to store custom data there for performance reasons...

Re: Selecting Details to be saved in Track

Pavel,
Thanks. I've posted a screen dump of what my s/w does (the route is real but the Temperatures are not) - it scans the file and inserts the red and blue Xs at the max & min places.
I've also attached my latest: using AirDisplay and a WIFI link to my iPhone I have written the s/w for the phone to be an Autopilot remote - it reads and graphs Seatalk data and controls the Autopilot - the buttons actually work.
Cheers,
Andrew
