Scale Change from CM93 to MBTile

Hi Everyone,
I've noticed what I think is a change in chart scaling behavior since the 5.6.2 was released.


I have 5 chart groups: 4 with MBTiles (bing satellite, google satellite, ArcGIS, Navionics) and one with CM93.

When switching between the 4 MBTile groups, the scale remains the same. And when I switch from MBTile to CM93, it remains the same.


However, when I switch back to an MBTile group, the scale always switches to 1:58000 if the CM93 scale was closer than that.

Examples attached

1. Select ArcGIS MBTile group

2. Select CM93 group

3. Reselect ArcGIS MBtile group (scale was not changed manually).


I'm pretty sure this did not happen in previous versions.

The MBtiles are created in SASPlanet and the highest Zoom is 18. I'm assuming OpenCPN is backing off from overzooming when it switches back to the MBTile? If that is the case, it would be great if it didn't do that.

Any input or others' experiences?

Hi Dave,
You can download the tile set at https://TheChartLocker.com.
The set for the video (referenced on FlySpray) is Marquesas. For the example above, it's the Tuamotus (both in the French Polynesia section).
