Re: s63 charts woe after upgrade

This is getting damned confusing. Are you saying that I should create a separate directory for every chart extract in somewhere permanent (.opencpn.../s63/chartNNN) and extract to ENC_ROOT there? So there will be two places holding s63 files?

Re: s63 charts woe after upgrade

You did that in the past obviously - and it worked.

There is one place for the sources and OCPN creates the entries in the chart directory - you don't have to worry about this.

Directories of exchange sets ( you download and uncompress into) one by one and then pointing the plug-in to install from there. Without erasing the sources.

Create one directory for S63 download sets and place the sets and their updates into those. For example.

Re: s63 charts woe after upgrade

Thanks for your patience, bcn, but I'm not sure how this can be done. Each chart file extract produces its own ENC_ROOT and you can't have a file with the same name in the same directory. Otherwise do you mean I have to manually create a separate directory for each chart, extract to ENC_ROOT etc and after pointing the chart update to it leave them there?

Other things to ponder: I've done it before, true, but only for the first base chart extracted. It's fine, so the installing by the plug-in and so on is working. When the 2nd chart is installed, it kills the first, leaving empty chart outlines and an error message. This is the base problem.

Re: s63 charts woe after upgrade

Simply creating a directory structure where every exchange set has it's own place.
There will be several nested ENC_Root folders and PERMIT.txt files but his is the S63 game.

Just go through it one by one.
And ask if it does not get clear.

Good night

Re: s63 charts woe after upgrade

Again, thank you Hubert.

It does seem to work! It's way past my bedtime in this part of the world; in the morning I'll do a complete reinstall to verify, and if it works, I promise CruisersForum a step by step HowTo for s63.

Good night to you as well - that is, if you're not on the middle watch somewhere out on the rolling deeps.

Re: s63 charts woe after upgrade

Good to hear.

Give us a shout when you got the how-to in order to integrate it into the S-63 documentation and at o-charts.
And for any aditional doubts or questions, please just keep asking!

Yes that is a totally reasonable suggestion.

I was referring to the Open CPN 4.4 stable release for windows 10.1 laptop from the Open CPN download page.

Apologies for the oversight.

Re: s63 charts woe after upgrade

looks like a broken file.

Installed it two days ago on a W10 PC.

Can you try to download again and please check against the SHA fingerprint for the file as published on the download page?

Btw.: this should go into the 4.4.0 thread, not into this one..
