River Navigation

It would be a BIG help to Inland, River boaters, Great Loopers, etc. if there was a PlugIn for OpenCPN that facilitated routing using river miles instead of L and Lo for waypoints. There is a published database of L and Lo values for each river mile for all major rivers. A simple database search should locate the closest river mile given the river name. A navigator should be able to input a river mile like TN648 as a route starting point and TN600 as the destination. The plugin would then allow ETA calculations with updates. A defined route is not necessary as we follow the "Sailing Line" between buoys rather that a traditional waypoint to waypoint route. A "Highway" page for us is totally useless. I have tentative pseudocode for such a plugin that I will be happy to share with anyone. Please advise/comment.
