Raymarine Seatalk-NG --> Seatalk --> QK-A027

I'm successfully using OpenCPN with the QK-A027 and GPS over Wifi on my Fire 7 HD, but can't seem to get the Raymarine instrumentation to come through.

I purchased the Raymarine E22158 SeaTalk Converter Kit and connected it up as documented. I don't see any Seatalk data coming over the NMEA 0183 data stream (using a NMEA 0183 raw data logger). I do get GPS perfectly though. So my network looks like:

Seatalk-NG --> Seatalk Converter E22158 --> QK-A027 --> OpenCPN on Android

Has anyone successfully made this work?

Thanks

Re: Raymarine Seatalk-NG --> Seatalk --> QK-A027

Hi, we have the SEATALK data from our ST60 instruments (SEATALK 1) coming via WIFI to OPENCPN without issues. As you seem to have the GPS data coming through and the AIS data it may be worth trying to connect the SEATALK directly to the A027. This is easy as you can just splice into the existing SEATALK wiring and join to the A027.

Good luck

Re: Raymarine Seatalk-NG --> Seatalk --> QK-A027

All of my instruments are SeatalkNG. I added the E22158 converter to the network and cut the end off the conversion cable to hardwire the mulitplexer. Red +, Shield -, and Yellow to the Seatalk data port. The QK-A027 is the ONLY device on the Seatalk1 network.

I haven't seen anything to support this, but I wonder if the E22158 converter needs some sort of handshake with a Seatalk1 device to start transmitting anything over that port. The QK-A027 only listens as I understand it.

Thanks.

Try connecting a 12K resistor between the QK-A027's seatalk input and + 12v.
