Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
I have found sometimes on updating OpenCPN I get two icons: one without any label and one without OpenGL. I have always used the one with no label as it's then possible to choose. I don't always have the choice so I don't know why it varies.
Re-install and see if you can select the link with OpenGL?

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
I have a brand new Simrad 4G connected via RI10 to OpenCPN 5.0.
When I enable both radar 3G and 4G in the PI plugin, then it works. Great!!!
But if I enable 4G only, OpenCPN fails to connect to the radar.
is this normal behavior?

No, not really. I've a 3G myself but have never heard of anything similar.
Please pass some more info:
You say: "Enable both 3G and 4G": Do you mean you select both in Preferences -> "Select radar types"? If so when you open OCPN right click menu do you see both radar's control and which one do you use? (See my picture where I've the radar types "Navico BR24" and "Emulator" instead.)
If you select only a 4G do you see the "Control Navico 4G" in the right click menu? And what happens if you select that?
Please submit also a shot of the radar info window. See my second shot.

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
Thanks Håkan.
Yes I need to select both radar types in preferences. The only picture I have right now is attached.
I will be off for a week, will test the other suggestions when I´m back.

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
Per..
From your picture it seems you've selected radar 4G A and 4G B. That's as intended. The 4G can support "two" antennas at different range at the same time, A and B. Both are found. You're running 4G B and A is standby. Each one can be used at its own OCPN canvas and/or a PPI window if you like.
Even though all seems to work for you the latest plugin to be released soon is this one:

Just want to say, this is so cool! Our 4G is being mounted and I'll wire it up this week. Can't wait to get this going. Very neat! Good job y'all!

No, but it *is* normal to enable 4G A and B e.g. two radars. Your 4G has dual range mode which we implement this way.

As overlay on the charts in the main window the radar works flawless. All fuctions including ARPA work. Only when I open the PPI window, this window freezes, the radar image within the PPI windows either does not show or shows once at opening and does not refresh. In the main screen as overlay on the charts the radar keeps working.
Not a blocking issue as I'm able to use the radar as overlay on the charts but I guess this is the right place to give this feedback?

Hugo,
Took some time before I had a Mac to try this out. You are right, problem is there with the official versions of OCPN and radar_pi on Mac. I opened issue https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi/issues/112.
Both Kees and myself are looking into this.

This issue is caused by the released version of OpenCPN itself. The way that this version is compiled is not suitable for the latest versions of Mojave. When I compile O myself on the target Mojave machine, all is fine.
The OpenCPN crew is aware of this problem. I expect the issue to be solved in the next maintenance release of O.

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
Douwe, Do you have any idea when that might be? There is a small change/improvement needed for dashboard too which will need to be added as a pr and reviewed. So timing is the question...

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
Specific to Garmin HD. My radar was working fine last winter before I left the boat, not sure which version Opencpn was running but was no longer running when I came back a few months later. In process of faultfinding I have changed versions of CPN and redone cables. The manual for Garmin in the plugins indicates grounding pin 5 of ethernet cable powers up radar. Does this mean that the scanner will start rotating or is it waiting on command from the radar control Garmin.

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
It is best to read the manual, but this will tell you too, if you read it.
