Radar cable is directly connected to tablet, IP has been changed. When I go into OpenCPN instead of getting the last error, it now doesn't show or do anything... Attached are some screenshots. Any ideas?

I get this window where it seems like it is working but I'm not getting any radar reading.... My instruments aren't showing up currently (a seperate problem) could that be a cause? I was expecting a seperate window with the radar data...

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released

You need a position and heading for the radar function.
Look at the radar's Info window to see if anything is missing.
Then press start transmit using the button on your picture.
Again.. pls read the manual

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released

My Raymarine Quantum RADAR has worked via WiFi but the image can be intermittent. I expected that and am now adding an ethernet cable while the mast is down.

I'm attempting to test this on my laptop at home. I have a connection problem which I haven't found a solution to in the manual or forum.

The set-up is;

- Windows 10 laptop running O 5.6.2 & radar pi V5.3.2-beta.
- Position and heading data simulated via a internet Signal-K connection.
- Laptop and RADAR connected to my Virgin Media home HUB.
- Firewall tried on and off.

If I ping the RADAR from the command prompt, it replies.
OpenCPN doesn't "find" the RADAR.
Please see screenshots.

I have attached screenshots, the OpenCPN log and a Wireshark capture.

Apologies if I've overlooked something covered in the manual or forum. I have searched.

John

You are pinging 192.168.0.41 but the radar has 192.168.0.21

If you look at the HUB connection, you will see that the RADAR is 41, the laptop is 21 (OB5JGC)

Do you see something different?

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released

John..
I'm not used to Raymarine as Douwe but some thoughts.
Since the radar has got an address I assume the HUB assign the DHCP address? (As the wifi router did before?)
The radar would have got another IP address now.

Wouldn't be necessary but a try: (Close OCPN before)
In opencpn.ini file.
Find the old address like mine and delete them.
(For Radar0.. and if you have more also Radar1...)

[PlugIns/Radar]
...

Radar0Address=127.0.0.10
Radar0Interface=127.0.0.10

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released

Thanks for the suggestion.

I deleted the two lines (I only have one RADAR) before starting O.
O then added the lines when it started. Both dotted quads where 0.0.0.0
The plugin view was exactly the same as I posted yesterday.
When I closed O it updated the address and they are set back to the originals.
I also checked that the router assigned the same addresses to the laptop and RADAR.

Screenshots attached.

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released

Hi All

I am looking to connect our older Raymarine Radar to OpenCPN; the radar is an RD218 2kw, 18" Radome.

Reading the documentation for the Radar Plugin, it looks like I also need to use the E series plotter and then pull out an ethernet to the machine running OpenCPN?

Is there anyone here that may be able to suggest how the setup should look??

Hi,

Thanks, yes, I've read that page; I was hoping that someone here might have a little more practical knowledge they were willing to share; as my post said, I am assuming it is all plug and play, but the reality is that I think it may be a little more involved.

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released

For the Raymarine "hack" nothing is really plug and play. Personally I know very little about the R.
Plug and play is for the basics of the plugin. Navico BR24-Halo2x and Garmin HD. There are knowledge about the Raymarine and it works for not so few.. Hopefully someone shows up here.

I remember that the RD218 was always tested connected through a E series plotter. As I do not have Raymarine equipment I cannot reproduce anything. The software developments on Raymarine that I did earlier were always done in cooperation with someone owing the hardware. This was a difficult and slow process.
