Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
Sixten.
No radar plugin for Android in sight. Then we would have been forced to w-lan and these antennas are normally not suitable for that.
Yes, I've run the radar_pi on a RPi4 although not in the boat. The RPi4 is comparably powerful but of course not as a modern PC. So zooming and such stuff is not so rapid. And I use a Navico 3G without radar A/B so you better performance test before a final installation.
VNC on RPi is normally fine.

Hi Hakan,
I have now also a Raspberry PI4 for which I use the actual OpenPlotter Headless deployment. The HALO20 seems to work right out of the box with the linked Radar PI package. But this Radar PI plug-in is of April 2019. I wonder if there is any newer (beta version) and how to get it installed.
I am actually missing the possibility to dock the Radar PPI.
Cheers
Torsten

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
We just released v5.0.4, which compared to 5.0.3 contains a few fixes. From the release notes:
- #121 Garmin HD ranges now work (and not only on xHD.)
- #125 ARPA is now supported on all four radars, not just the first two.
- Minor font and dialog size issues
- Translations
- Navico radar detection is improved
In particular, like beta6, this release should detect all HALO radars reliably.
Note that we have reports that this works with HALO20 and HALO20+, but we have not yet adapted the code so you can't select ranges and features that these radars don't have. So don't get excited by being able to select Doppler and 72 NM range, they won't work. Heck, they might even explode your radar, or your boat, or the moon. Just so y'all 've been warned
Microsoft Windows and macOS users can download this release here:
https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/...ses/tag/v5.0.4
UNIX PPA users will have to wait until the PPA gets updated.
The documentation links should get updated soon as well.

You can no longer dock the PPI by dragging, you need to use the menu item "Float / Dock PPI" on the "Window" submenu in the radar menu box.

Thanks again for your kind support!
I really appreciate it
I am absolutely amazed about how well OpenCPN5+Radar PI 5 (OpenPlotter Headless Distribition) works on the Raspberry PI 4 B with VNC (Taskmanager reports approx. 20% CPU load with Radar being active and PPI displayed and ship moving fast in circles) to my Android tablet (only the OpenCPN alarm bell from on the Raspberry audio output is very low and distortion noise as well as clicking noise at a similar level).

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
Hi all, just to let you all know that I have finally updated the radar plugin documentation at https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi/wiki which is now up-to-date on both Navico and Garmin radars.

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
Hi,
I’m having trouble getting B&G 4g radar to display.
I’m using a Mac Air (High Sierra), OpenCPN 5.0.1, and Radar PI 5.0.4
After selecting radar ‘4G A’ a box pops up ‘Scanning interface 192.168.76.37’ but no radar overlay displays.
I’ve tried messing with the Options in the Radar Display Preferences window:
Am I doing something dumb?

Well, you were asking if you were doing anything dumb ...
No kidding, multicast and broadcast are just not designed to work well over WiFi.
In any case, try wired first and make sure you always have this as a fallback.

Well this may sound even more stupid then: Can I connect connect the Ethernet cable from my Mac to the H5000 CPU?
I tried this using 192.168.0.2 as the address for the network connection, but it did not work.
Am I doing something dumb?

Re: Radar plugin v5.0.0 released
Hi
Thank you all for your hard work!
I am running a B&G 4g on a Raspberrypi 4 with openplotter 2.0x and on a Dell xps13 running Linux Mint 19.3. Booth was working as soon I connected a Network cable beetween my router and the B&G nmea 2000 network.
Easier to get a good picture than on the B&G plotters!
Only minor bug/problem are when using the ppi window all Ais targets after howering over the first Ais tatrget shows that target for every target on the screen......Happens on booth raspberry and Dell.
When using overlay and no ppi window Ais is working as it should.
Is this a setting or a bug?
ps on the Dell I can get it to work on Wifi if I make sure I am on 5 not 2.4 and not to many connections allready to the router, not as stable though so will not use for sailing ds
