Mark's website seems down, and he hasn't committed anything on github since 2018 so his interest may have waned a little?
The big question is: Is it worth it if there are only a few users?

Merrimac, I agree with you. Perhaps several users will step up and show enough interest.

I have a Raymarine Quantum radar on an Ethernet. It is controlled by an Axiom PRO. The PC is on the same network. Please let me know if you need any information from it.

You can see that the radar is in the warmup state and when the warm up timer gets to zero the log output ends.
keoe....
Are you able to make a Wireshark recording of the ethernet traffic on the radar interface ?
Right now I am in Gouthenburg but will soon be on my way to Las Palmas. Otherwise I would be able to assist you if you planed on going south from where you are at the moment.
Unfortunate my boat is neither in Las Palmas, nor is it in Gouthenburg. If it was it would have been a peace of cake to debug the problem. I have never run the radar_pi from a wireshark recording but Douwe probably know how to do this.
Is it possible to back step the revisions and get into a working state ?

Douwe and Hasse...
Hopefully my Wireshark capture is correct. You can find it on this link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sxitiymda3...re.pcapng?dl=0
I started the capturing when the Radar_pi was and the PPI was open and in scale 1/4. Radar was turned on but stopped. During the capturing I start up the radar and then zoomed out to 1/2. Then it crashed as before.
Hasse and Håkan...
Thank you for offering your support. I went into holiday mode and doesn't had any energy to troubleshoot this the last weeks. Hopefully my capture was correct. Otherwise I will try again

I have been replaying your capture. A replayed capture is perfectly identical to the original radar data. I have tried various versions of radar_pi on both a fast and a slow computer (win10). I get a perfect radar image, range 1/4 nm, switching to 1/2 nm. I have put this in a loop, it plays for hours. No crash. So I can not reproduce your problem and therefor not solve it.
Have you tried a different computer?

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released
I have a used 3G navico broadband radome; trying to hook it up to the laptop.
I got a new cable, with an RJ45 plug and power leads.
I am trying to run it in Open CPN, without luck. The radar icon in CPN changes into what looks like a power cable, but nothing happens. Can anybody help?

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released
first35..
Welcome to the Forum.
The 3G I successfully use myself.
If not already done I suggest you read how to handle the radar scanner and the plugin here: https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi/wiki
Next is a more exhaustive description of "nothing happens".
Check that cabling is correct and no PC firewall is blocking the data traffic.
Does the PC recognized the radar network connection? ("Unknown network" "No Internet")
Did you selected correct radar type.
What says the info window during connection?

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released
Thank you for answering. I did look at the github, but did not find anything useful. I did install the radar plugin in CPN, I do have a radar icon on the toolbar. I did not do anything internet related because I never found any source telling me to do it. The radar is not wifi, it is connected with a RJ45 part of the cable to the laptop; the power leads I connected to the power according to the 3G radar manual. Red&yellow to positive and black to negative.I do not think the laptop has a firewall. I bought it from Navigation Laptops, specifically to be able to connect a radar to it.
If there is a network set up to be made, this may be the problem, can you help me do it?

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released
First...
What kind of PC? If Windows there would be a firewall.
1) Allow both internal and external for opencpn. Compare my shot although in Swedish.
2) There must be a network connection. Unidentified network See shot2.
3) Right click on the screen to "Show radar" (Or click the icon)
4) Select "Window" -> "Info" --- Wait for the radar network to be found. If not found in minutes - Switch radar power off and on and wait again.
5) Check that OpenGL, position and heading is present.
6) Click the "Start/Stop radar button to transmit.
7) Select to show PPI window and/or Overlay
If it's not working try to describe what part of above is missing.

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released
it's a panasonic toughbook.
I think firewall is fine. there is no openCPN on the list, but it is on for chartplotter and navigator. This was set up by the guy who sold me the laptop.
the laptop is connected to the internet.
When I open the info window it says Navico 3G(i selected the radar type), but all the options are greyed out.

But the list is for programs excluded from the firewall isn't it? So opencpn would be on the list.

Is it? The radar connection don't have internet. Or do you mean a network connection? Compare my shot #2

Could you show us a shot of the info window?

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released
your firewall screenshot is too blurry to read, but it looks like mine. this is a list of programs and features ALLOWED through the firewall. I am asking the guy who sold me the lapotop; I appreciate your patience.
How do I find out about the network details?
