If the HDG contains true heading or not can't be seen here but be sure to have plugin WMM activated and all will be fine in any case.

Hakan, the WMM was it the whole time. I turned it off with with as many plugins and settings as I could to try and prevent any crashes or issues. I had no idea it was required for the radar plugin. Thank you so much for your help.

akopac..
Your welcome. Glad you found it.
WMM as such is not essential for the radar plugin but a true heading is for chart overlay. And WMM is creating a true heading if your compass don't serve that but only magnetic heading.

Yes. Sea clutter can be set in different modes according to radar type.

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released

I installed a new Halo 20+

First I was not able to connect to it when selecting the Halo A or B
It keep in status initializing, tried many networksettings
Finally I happen to try the 4g option and now it working!

Should I not worry about it and keep 4g or am I then missing the Halo options?

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released

Something wrong here. And you are missing Halo features. It could be that Navico did some firmware changes in the recent versions of the Halo. Are you able to make a Wireshark (Windows) or TCPdump (linux) recording of the network communications while playing the radar with radar_pi in the 4G mode?

Alternatively, get me a opencpn.log of the situation that the radar did not work, with radar_pi configured for a Halo.

Where are you located?

Re: Radar plugin 5.2.1 released

Hi Douwe,

I am located in middle of NL.

I did today some more testing on the boat,.
I had two laptops, the boat laptop, used before as well.
And I had my personal laptop.
Both has OpenCPN 5.6.0 the boat laptop with plugin 5.2.2. and the personal I installed the beta 5.3.0.

First I did not get a connection at all using the personal laptop, the boat laptop was OK. I could connect in 3G mode like before. However now I am missing the halo features which i saw last weekend.
Apparently Halo was working last weekend some how, but not now.

Then realizing I disabled the firewall on the boat laptop and not on personal one.
After disable the firewall the beta version is directly connecting to the Halo type, also showing the doppler options.

Back at home I see the statement in the info window for the Halo is now scanning all the interfaces, while before only showing 'Initializing

So far my conclusions/observations:
- Windows firewall need to be disabled / opened (which ports?)
- most obvious difference between 4g an Halo is doppler option.
- beta version is finding the Halo correctly

- after finding the radar once, afterwards it keep searching for it (scanning the interfaces).

@douwe, I will send logfiles to your personal mail.

Thanks for the extensive info you mailed me. With this I should be able to fix the issue, when I find time. Boat gets back into the water tomorrow....

The latest Halo radars may not be recognized by radar_pi. This has been solved in the new radar_pi 5.3.2 beta release that is now available in the beta plugin catalog. An updated master release will come out soon.
