Question on AIS and ship track

Hi Folks

I have been using OpenCPN for about 4 years now. I recently upgraded to the most current release. Windows 7

AIS issue: When I see a AIS target and right click on it to do a target query I use to get a box with all the information about that vessel. Now when I do that all I get is a black lined square around the target. I am not getting any target information. Can you suggest a solution to this issue ?

Vessel tracking: I am interested in having the program track my vessel. Currently I have to reclick the ship icon when I the boat moves off the screen. Sometimes this works without having to click the icon but most of the time the program does not auto adjust to keep the my vessel on the screen. I am sure that I do not have something set properly for this. I have reviewed the documentation but unable to get this to work. Can you suggest a cure?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Question on AIS and ship track

Chuck,

the tracking that's Auto-follow: F2 or the Red Boat Icon from the Tool Bar

AIS: double clicking a target (or right clicking/Target Query...) shall bring up the small window with the info. The target is marked by the black dotted square.
Might the Window be hidden under some other - which is strange for Windows?

We have a W7 install as well and have not seen a glitch for this feature.

Re: Question on AIS and ship track

Using the F2 does not do the job. I have tried that numerous times. Headed out in a few days and will gather more detailed notes on what happens.

The query box does not appear to be hidden as I have nothing else open but OpenCPN. Not sure why that was working before and now suddenly it has disappeared. When I right click the target and choose query target(sorry off the boat in a wifi cafe not sure exact name) it use to open a box with full target info(name, speed, cpa, rudder angle etc.). Now it just draws a small square around the target.

Re: Question on AIS and ship track

Hi Chuck,

IIRC, to get the AIS info one double left clicks on the icon, not rightr click. Works on this little Windows 7 netbook...

Cheers,

chouliha...

I think your AIS query box has somehow moved very far off screen. We have logic to detect and correct this when OCPN starts up, but might be failing in your case.

Could you send us your configuration file?

Thanks
Dave

Re: Question on AIS and ship track

yep double left click opens the info box as seen, or you can single right click and select view target info. Windows 7 with OpenCPN version 4.0.0
PS, Anchor watch is working well
