Problem with busy cursor in OpenCPN 4.4

I have had several days of problem solving trying to find out why the cursor in OpenCPN 4.4 would go busy for some reason. Stays that way till shutdown. Still would function, just slower. Linux Mint 17.3 operating system. Running on different machines with same problem. Reloaded charts, reduced detail in charts to no avail. Finally found in settings-display-advance-graffics-options to select set OpenGL to Software OpenGL appears to do the trick. Aparently some problems with Mint 17.3 supporting native OpenGL.

This was a problem in earlier beta 4.5 which has been recently fixed.
I think the busy cursor also occurred in 4.4 for some users, not sure if it was Linux, but that is very likely.

Can you update your OpenCPN to the the beta version, or at least install it concurrently and try it to see if it fixes the problem? 4.5 has improved significantly and I think it is quite stable.

Perhaps another Linux user has some suggestions for you.

There no beta version on OpenCPN Download page.

V4.5 can only be obtained from github and build it from source right now.
