Problem with AIS and Radar plug in compatability

I'm running a Windows 10 computer with Open CPN v5.0. I have a new Simrad Halo 24 radar and that I'm using with the radar plug-in v 5.0. The radar is working very well, although I'd like to figure out how to overlay it on my chart.

BUT I'm having a problem with compatability with my Vesper AIS. When the radar is running, all of the AIS targets show the same name and MMSI number. Very strange. This does not happen when the radar is turned off.

Is there an easy fix to resolve what appears to be a software issue?

Thanks

Plover..
To overlay on the chart(s) you've to use the radar menu. Right click on OCPN chart view to show.
Use menu "Window" and Overlay1 and/or Overlay2 if you've two Canvas. See shot.

The AIS failure you describe I haven't seen but try latest radar_pi for a test:
https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi/releases
Explode "Assets" for download links. For Win: https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/...ov50-win32.exe

Yes, there is an easy fix. Use the latest beta release: https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/...g/v5.0.3-beta3.

Good luck,

Re: Problem with AIS and Radar plug in compatability

Thx for the tip. Just now I have access to internet while cruising so tried to download the beta version but it didn't install

I downloaded the beta version of the radar PI. 5.0.3-beta3-ov50-win.32.exe.

However, when I install it on my computer I get an error message: Error opening file for writing.

I tried to ignore and retried to install but the installation failed.

What next?

Thanks.

I tried it, installation works fine. I think in your case the installer does not have authority to write the new radar_pi.dll in the opencpn/plugins directory. Can you try to "Run as administrator". If that does not help, take the attached radar_pi.dll.pdf, remove the pdf extension, and copy it to the opencpn/plugins directory (overwrite the old one).

Douwe,
I tried running both Open CPN and the radar beta file and it still doesn't work. I get the same error message.

Can you teach me how to delete the .pdf extension from the file that you sent?

Thanks,
Plover

Oops I meant to write that I ran both as an administrator but no luck.

When you run the installer program for the radar, OpenCPN should not be running.

To remove the .pdf extension you in fact change the filename,
