Problem installing GPS receiver

Hi,

I have installed Open CPN on my computer and I have two problems:

1. The GPS receiver - I have followed the manufacturers instructions to install a generic GPS receiver USB\VID_067B&PID_2303\5&A9BE360&0&3. On my lap top I am receiving a stream of data. However, it will not search for a satellite and does not get a position fix.

2. Open CPN intstalled without any difficulties and I am using CM93 charts that we have previously used on Maxsea. On Maxsea we always had text (names of places) however, I am not getting any text on Open CPN.

I would really appreciate any help as I have been sitting here for hours now and cannot think or anything else to try.

Re: Problem installing GPS receiver

That should fix the texts.

What data are you receiving ?
Where do you put your receiver ?
If the receiver can't "see" the sky, it will have great difficulty to receive any satellites.
Maybe you should try outside (if not already tried).

Could you post some sentences form the output of your receiver ?

Hi, thank you the A+ button fixed the texts.

I am in Sao Paulo in Brazil (a huge city). I took the laptop outside and it is seeing satelites now but not quite getting a fix. I think there are just too many buildings around and I now think that the device is working. I will go somewhere more open to test again.

Thanks so much.
