Plugins with Debian 11 Bullseye

I am very pleased that OCPN is now included in the standard packages from Debian 11 Bullseye. But I have a hard time installing plugins.
The Plugin Catalog Beta and Master stays empty.
I have managed to build from source the Radar and O-charts plugin.

Radar-5.2.1-+2105151915.2ca55bb_debian-11-amd64.deb
and
o-charts_pi-0.9.0.12-0_debian-x86_64-11.deb

Both install easy with dpkg -i.

But the O-charts has some little bugs. It loses contact with the USB dongle after some time. (5-8hr). So I want to keep it up to date with new versions.

Now I am trying to build
o-charts-0.9.0.29-+c7e8495_debian-11-x86_64.deb

But it doesn’t install with dpkg.
dpkg -I o-charts-0.9.0.29-+c7e8495_debian-11-x86_64.deb
States that it is built for Architecture: x86_64
The older package gives
dpkg -I o-charts_pi-0.9.0.12-0_debian-x86_64-testing.deb
Architecture: amd64

any suggestions how to solve this problem ?

Re: Plugins with Debian 11 Bullseye

Hi Noreen,

the Oesenc plugin is under construction. The plugin comes in the OpenCPN settings and is no longer in dpkg format.

The o-charts versions 0.9.0 series are versions for testing.

Better take the older version until the new oesenc system is released.

I'am using the new set allready here but only for testing purposes.

The latest version on my AMD 64 bit Mint Linux is 4.2.19.28

Groet,

Bram

Re: Plugins with Debian 11 Bullseye

I am afraid that your answer doesn’t help me with my problem being unable to install plugins in my Debian 11 Bullseye system. Building the oesenc_pi plugin the system throws even more errors at me. So I am still looking for a reliable way to install plugins in a Debian Bullseye system. All errors seem to be related to trying to build for the wrong Architecture x86_64 in stead of amd64. The Architecture of my Debian Bullseye is amd64.

Re: Plugins with Debian 11 Bullseye

Did you install the libusb file ? Change the OpenCPN version to Focal. This probably also works in Bullseye.

You can try the 0.9 beta version of the plugin, but is not yet ready and works only with charts from the test server. I does not longer come in the .deb format.

Re: Plugins with Debian 11 Bullseye

Maybe you misread my openings post. I already have te o-charts plugin version 0.9.0.12 installed and working. But have a problem updating it to 0.9.0.29. There seems to be a problem in the make file of the source of the newer version.

Re: Plugins with Debian 11 Bullseye

The update of the 0.9.0 plugin comes now in OpenCPN it self. You need the beta settings and then update plugins. If the setting for the beta is right. You see an arrow at the plugin to upgrade. and then you see the new Icon of O-charts plugin.

If the present version works, then it is better to wait for the final version.

Because updates on this beta project are changing fast.

Although most problems seem to be solved now.
