Plugin API and documentation

I would like to add a list to the development manual of procedures, functions, and opencpn conditions that the API now permits. The purpose would be to provide a guide for plugin programming for what is available from the main program.

Can someone suggest a file or files that I should look at to learn more and perhaps start such a document ?

Thanks

Re: Plugin API and documentation

Rick,
The only real place to start is with ocpn_plugin.h found in the include directory of OCPN, which defines everything that can be used by plugins. It does not help with how, when or why, but it is at least a start.

Under linux you can 'break' the rules of what you can and cannot use from the mainline, but windows keeps you honest as all items have to be in the 'lib' file to be accessible, and these are defined within the ocpn_plugin.h as 'extern DECL_EXP'.
