Personnal AIS MOB Beacon -Unique MMSI?

Can anyone confirm that Personnal MOB Safety devices such as
ACR AISLink and McMurdo are assigned their own unique MMSI number?

And is that normally an International number, not BoatUS?

Thanks.

McMurdo states they transmit, "serialised identity number". It doesn't say MMSI. Hence I doubt it is, nor see any advantage to a MOB device having a recorded/tracked 'MMSI'. ??

Yes it is a unique MMSI number.. no idea what is on sale in the US but normally it is proper international MMSI.

it is a special number identifying the Ais receiver that its a personal safety device. smart feature to alert the vessel nearby on MOB.
number is fixed an can only be changed by the manufactorer , I believe.

All..
From ITU standard:
Quote:
The MOB (Man overboard) device that transmits DSC and/or AIS should use an identity
972XXYYYY, (where xx = manufacturer ID 01 to 99 assigned by CIRM; yyyy = the sequence number 0000 to 9999. When reaching 9999 the manufacturer should restart the sequence numbering at 0000.The manufacturer ID xx = 00 is reserved for test purposes). Combination DSC AIS devices will transmit one common user ID

It is however an MMSI, the last digits may repeat therefore not quite unique but 1:9999 is near enough for this application hey!

A quick guide is available on Wikipedia

Quote:
Search and Rescue Transmitter
AIS Search and Rescue Transmitters (AIS-SART) have an identifier related to the manufacturer, rather than a country's MID:[6]

970YYxxxx
The digitals represented by the two Y characters are assigned by the International Association for Marine Electronics Companies and refer to the SART manufacturer, while the Xs are sequential digits assigned by the manufacturer identifying the SART.

We have a Nautilus Lifeline which has an MMSI which comes with the device, that is, you do not apply for it. Works on DSC and AIS.

Re: Personnal AIS MOB Beacon -Unique MMSI?

Hakan, and others, thank you. I guess the answer is yes, (up to 9999 per manufacturer, and then restart numbering).

Which answers the other question I did not ask, which is, is the PAB MOB mmsi dependent on having a Ship's MMSI? Answer is NO.

The reason I was asking about this was because I would like to change my VHF mmsi over to an international one, rather than BoatUS, and I did not want to have to program an AIS MOB twice! (probably impossible) Thank you.
