Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Absolutely can be installed independently. Have to feed the cruising kitty during the week, but I'll see if I can get it to compile for the ArmHF. If I do I'll post it back up or post the procedure. Thanks.

martinworswick...

Best tidal current data for European waters, for use in OpenCPN, is probably a tidal grib.

Good place to look:

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

I managed to get otcurrent_pi compiled and running on a Pi 4 with:

kernel 5.4.35

OS Debian Buster 10.3

OpenCPN 5.1.428

Tested(?) on exactly one system, but it seems to run fine.

I had to edit the package to get the /usr/local path correct, so deb made me take out the "_" you would usually find in the package name when I rebuilt. Will try to fix next time.

Anyway, since I don't have a repo, here it is for anyone interested.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

New version of OTCurrent in the plug-in Manager works fine, but i have found that it crashes O5.1.704+249d74c upon exit. Its a critical failure that requires O to be restarted in "Safe Mode" to be able to get things going again. Otherwise O fails to launch.

Im on a Mac running Catalina.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Thanks for the report. I will take a look at this today.

Did the old MacOSX version work correctly?

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Steve...

otcurrent_pi is working here on my Mac Catalina. When first installed and the legacy version was present I had to reinstall to remove the old version. Did you update the master catalog before the install? There was a time when two versions were available in the catalog. That should now be resolved.

When starting the plugin I noticed that the interval (60,30,15) had not been automatically set from the dropdown. Not sure what would have happened if I had closed OpenCPN in that state.

The easy availability of the website guides for the plugins is showing that a lot of editing is needed. On the list of jobs!

I believe so, yes. I will remove it, empty the cache, and try again this evening.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Just cleared the cache and also installed the latest 5.1.8RC candidate and the issue is resolved. OTCurrent no longer crashes O on exit. Version is OTCurrent 2.7.7.2 installed through the plugin manager.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Just added the OTCurrent Plugin on OpenCPN 5.6. I can not seem to get it to work. The arrow opens up the time box, but no current arrows on the charts when zoomed in. The tcdata folder has the HARMONICS-NO_US.IDX file, harmonic-dwf-20210110-free.tcd. any ideas of what to try?

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Do you have the HARMONICS_NO_US file in the tcdata also?
Not only HARMONICS_NO_US.IDX.
Then you must import the IDX file via the Options, charts, tide & current.
Good luck.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Hmm, guess I am stumped, yes all all files are there, they were automatically imported to the tide & current tab also. Any other check boxes necessary for it to display?

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Jeff ...

I have not got around to making OTcurrent work with the OpenCPN 5.6 tidal data. The workaround at the moment is to use the data from a previous version.

I have added the files needed here (HARMONIC, HARMONIC.IDX):

https://github.com/Rasbats/otcurrent...ses/tag/v3.2.0

Save them to a convenient directory on your system. Select that directory with the plugin.

Had a similar problem. Look at this tread for a work around.

Re: OTCurrent Plugin

Mike...
Not following this thread closely.
But if there is a related problem in OCPN core, I sure would like to see it entered as a Flyspray Task against O56 Release.

Thanks
