OpenPlotter / signalK / Actisense

Hi,

This is not exactly openCPN but OpenPlotter.
Since last signalK update, I got an error with the signalK server NMEA2000 connection to Actisense using serial (Actisense NGT-1 (canboat))
For each incoming messages, I will get a checksum error :
Code:
Aug 16 14:03:11 openplotter signalk-server[1846]: ERROR 2019-08-16T14:03:11.659Z [actisense-serial] Ignoring message with invalid checksum
It used to work... even thought it is a simulation system.
The same configuration works with NMEA0183, say NMEA 0183 / serial (Actisense NGT-1 (canboat)).
If anybody can help or give me ideas on where to search ...
Cheers.

You could try the latest OpenPlotter 2.0 beta. Works here very well with my Canable canbus board. NMEA2000 to NMEA183 for the use in OpenCPN via SignalK.

You need some settings and first the initialisation of the board. Restart the SignalK server. But then it works flawless and fast. The data goes in Kplex multiplexer and then via localhost to OpenCPN.

I have to switch on the small board and then the AIS transponder. Otherwise the transponder does not work via NMEA2000 port. The transponder is a Navico (SRT board).

The small Canable board is on the left site of the attached image.

Re: OpenPlotter / signalK / Actisense

I may found the issue but I don't find how to solve it.
The Node red shows a credential lost message :
Quote:
17 Aug 07:14:34 - [warn]
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Your flow credentials file is encrypted using a system-generated key.
If the system-generated key is lost for any reason, your credentials
file will not be recoverable, you will have to delete it and re-enter
your credentials.
You should set your own key using the 'credentialSecret' option in
your settings file. Node-RED will then re-encrypt your credentials
file using your chosen key the next time you deploy a change.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
17 Aug 07:14:34 - [info] Starting flows
17 Aug 07:14:34 - [info] Started flows
17 Aug 07:14:34 - [info] Server now running at http://127.0.0.1:1880/
It seems to be easy to resolve "you will have to delete it and re-enter" but I am not familiar with Node Red at all and I didn't find how to ...
Cheers.

Here is the beta available.

https://github.com/openplotter/openp...tings/releases

Not everything works, but SignalK is working very well with my canbus board. But you need to do some settings and activation of the SignalK add-ons.

See the image on the former reply.

It's a .deb package ...
Just have to install it ? on a clean system ? on top of 1.2 beta ?
There is some thing I did not follow, I think !

Hi J.,

unpacking the file, then can you see, it is an image file. You can put this on an Sd card and you have complete new version. You can thereafter do the latest updates of Linux Buster version, in terminal:

sudo apt update
then
sudo apt upgrade

Then you a complete latest new version of Linux Buster with the OpenPlotter additions. Can run on an RPI3 or 4. But remember it is a beta version.

Regards,

Bram

Instructions for loading the OP V2 beta if anyone wants a go >>

Quote:

Now OP is easier to maintain and update. As I have promised here are an screenshot and instructions to start playing with it.

Now OpenPlotter is a collection of apps: https://github.com/openplotter

The main app that you have to install first is openplotter-settings: https://github.com/openplotter/openplotter-settings

It is important you install the rest of apps from the openplotter-settings interface, you can see it in the picture above. All apps are converted into debian packages that you can install by "sudo apt install blablabla": https://launchpad.net/~openplotter/+arch...penplotter. On every github repository you can see instructions to help with development, contact us before please.

Instructions to test

Download and install "Raspbian Buster with desktop" image or NOOBS: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/
We do not need the "Raspbian Buster with desktop and recommended software". We recommend the NOOBS way so you will be able to start from scratch easily recovering your system.

Once your Raspbian is running install some dependencies:

Code:
sudo apt install python-configparser python3-wxgtk4.0 python3-ujson whois

An then download and install the latest deb file you will found here: https://github.com/openplotter/openplott...s/releases

Code:
sudo dpkg -i openplotter-settings_2.0.6-beta.deb

And you are done! The first thing to do is to "Add sources" and you will see every app you install from openplotter-settings in the Raspberry menu -> Other
You will see many apps in "coming soon" state but it does not mean that we have to start creating them, we have just to adapt the current code to the new wrapper and make some cosmetic changes.

We have to decide what apps should be done before releasing the first OpenPlotter 2 beta. When the rest of apps are done or there are new ones, they will appear magically in the openplotter-settings menu.

Please do not use this test in production systems, I mean do not sail with this yet! Do not start translating yet, wait for the source files to be in crowdin.

There is allready a complete image file available. You don't need the above instructions.

In OpenPlotter beta 2.00 not everything is yet working.

Here another image from my RPI4 with canable Canbus board with SignalK/canboat converting NMEA2000 from my transponder to NMEA183 to be used in OpenCPN.

Hi Conachair,

see my former post with the adress of the imagefile. Can be downloaded, without any registration, if you use the Chromium browser.

Works very well although some parts are missing. Tried with the latest Buster upgrades and the latest kernel version 4.19.66.

For the reception of NMEA2000 via the small canable board it needs some settings in SignalK and initialisating of the board in the software to can0 and the canbus bitrate of 250000.

Also NMEA183 to NMEA2000 is possible.

Regards,

Bram

This link?
https://github.com/openplotter/openp...tings/releases

That just comes up here as a small deb file, not an image?
