Re: OpenCPN XP Installation Problems

It should be something like dd_vcredistMSI6bd3 The actual name will probably differ, but the beginning should be the same.

Re: OpenCPN XP Installation Problems

I have even 3 of those txt files of today, and more of yesterday.
Do you have still interest on those files ?
2 are about 0.5 MB, 1 is about 5 MB.
It seems to run now, because I disabled antivirus during install.

Thanks for your help and also thanks to all the programmer guys !

Yes, still might be interesting. Now as you can run the program you can find my e-mail on the Authors tab in OpenCPN help.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN XP Installation Problems

[QUOTE=Anwender;674411]OpenCPN 2.3.1. does not start.
(also the new beta tried, no luck either).
I have tried reboots after installs, I tried the vcredist_x86.exe from given link here. No success.
I am as administrator in win xp.
Can you see something from the log and give me advice, please ?

anyone else?for Open CPN 2.3.1?
For XP SP1 try this download link for VC redist 2008 package SP1

* link to VC 2008 redistributable is available from Microsoft downloads. Please use a search to find it.

Re: OpenCPN XP Installation Problems

Hello All
So here is a follow up on my Open Cpn fun and games, after going through the install problems that I had which are detailed in this thread. I got out on the water and fired up the computer connected my GPS and set that up and everthing appeared to be good. As I was chugging along as you can see things were not so happy things would get worse and worse until I zoomed in or out and that seemed to reset the problem. It may be operator error but any ideas would be great
Thanks Ross

Hi,Toothy.That's pretty bad,alright.

Just a guess:the thing that springs to mind,is "Feet".Not many folks use "feet".Nothing wrong in that, but to find the problem...

Have you tried as Fathoms or Meters in OpenCpn setup?/Vector charts tab?)

Or just be careful of the other settings "Shallow","Safety","Deep",available right near there in the dialogue.....If this helps or not, report back!

I can't imagine how setting the depth units to feet could cause the problem he illustrated. It looks to me like a problem caused by trying to optimize screen updates for speed by not redrawing everything when the chart is moved.

Re: OpenCPN XP Installation Problems

Folks....

Fabbian is dead right.

All versions after 2.3.1, even sometimes on Beta 506, display this problem.

Only happens in auto-follow mode, with relatively low speeds on small scale chart renderings. Only actually seen in simulation mode, or underway on the water.

Good news is, I am underway these weeks, and have seen the problem exactly as described onboard and underway.

I have a solution ready for the next Beta.

Please stay tuned.

Re: OpenCPN XP Installation Problems

I was just guessing it could be the coastline display...In feet, these would be awfully close,on small scale left at the defaults 3,8,10 .A shot from the dark,as I don't use the cm93 charts much or "feet" either.
