Thumbs up OpenCPN with ENC-S63 charts

Hi from Lisbon

I have carried out a trial of OpenCPN with 10 ENC S-63 charts from Nazaré to Sines including Lisbon/Tagus entrance and the estuary. Charts were received from J. Garraio distributor for Admiralty as a trial version for my cruisers association (ANC).

HW used Acer Aspire Switch 11 >Intel Atom Z3745 Quad Core 1,33 GHz Memory 2 GB 64 Flash Memory > Windows 8.1.

Trial worked beautifully. The computer is slow for route planning though reasonable for navigation.

The trial has shown that HW requirements for ENC S-63 are more stringent than for CM93_2011.

Best

José,

a question: what version of OCPN and the plug-in did you use?
OpenGL on or off?

José...

can confirm the crash with GRIB request on my macMini-M1 (BigSur).

The other stuff: OpenGL - the drivers - can be the issue.
The crash report will tell more.

OpenGL --> Options|Display|Advanced,

sorry, didn't perceive this a a question..

With OpenGL OFF, rendering might get quite slow.

Re: OpenCPN with ENC-S63 charts

OpenGL off does not seem a solution...Very, very slow.

I have disabled Grib Plugin. Not crashing with BigSur on MacBook Pro.

On MacBook Air, with Mojave, apart from the Grib problem, it was crashing when starting with minimised display and maximising with the green button. Now it is configured to start with full display and looks more stable. Enlarging the display manually does not crash.

ENC charts are working well.

Re: OpenCPN with ENC-S63 charts

Hi Hubert

I have posted a new thread adding the identification of when OCPN crashes.

I have tested both machines today and OCPN is stable.

Thanks for you help
