Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Dave, RGleason,

In this page of the opencpn.org website, there is an assignment error: https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/logbookkonni.html

The link to the LogbookKonni plugin version for 5.0 points to the O4.8.8 version.

To correct.

Gilletarom.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

bcn,
Zooming or panning or changing chart when displaying an erroneous chart, most often crashes OpenCPN.
Selecting a raster bundle works fine and displays correct but when I get back to vector there is exactly the same display as when I left.
Moving location when in raster shows the the correct location but erroneous display in vector when I get back.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Guys,
did a few more tests and FWIW: It does not matter if I delay the start of OpenCPN with say 10 seconds after the autostarted system (with XFCE).
The vector load/display problem arises if I automatically start OpenCPN. So only a manual start works.
Really strange.

LennartG....

Don't know how you are starting O from boot. But maybe test adding a simple sleep 10 seconds or so before starting O, to prove the concept. If this works, we want to see your OCPN logfiles, once without delay, and once with.

I do this on my daily nav-the-boat machine, as well. It is a slow machine, so I am just waiting for linux to stabilize before invoking O. No hurry, waiting for the engines to warm, anyway...

oesenc plugin has been uploaded and built at OpenCPN PPA repository. You should be able to upgrade to this version 2.9.1524 now.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Dave,
sorry for the delay, sunday dinner with family ...

The start procedure is the one described in the WiKi 'https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opencpn:supplementary_software:linux_s hutdown' with the addition of an 'ExecStartPre=10' just before the 'ExecStart' line. This to get the 10 sec delay.
Logs are attaced, two files as one, as doc, but is a renamed zip.

LennartG...

Please try to update the oesenc plugin from the OpenCPN PPA now. Looks like your plugin may be out-of-date.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Dave,

I updated everything this morning, using PPA.
Checking the current version displays 2.4.0
Running 'sudo apt-get install oesenc-pi' returns 'oesenc-pi is already the latest version (2.4.0-0-xenial1)'
What more can I do?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Hello,
Concern with the latest version:
The options (not very ergonomic (T), (S) and (L) 'work', for my case, but they only check or uncheck the display boxes provided in the menu.
Nothing is displayed .

I add that tides and currents are not displayed either when V. 4.8.8 was fully functional.

I find (personally) these menus curious, not very ergonomic and I confirm that when I point to an icon of the left menu, a horizontal line appears but no text is displayed to give the function of the icon.

Version 4.8.8 had the Text, Tides and other icons that disappeared because in the right menu, when I ask the personal menu, no options or selection is offered.

That's what I had noticed on version 4.9.9 but I thought that since it was a beta version, it would be fixed.
I have of course been on shoreline (tutorial in French, held by Gilletarom) to see the tutorial.

I hope this is a bug and that there will be return of these options otherwise I will look (if someone has the package for Ubuntu) to reinstall the old version.
Sorry for my basic English level.

Best Regards from France, Philippe

Better ... but still giving issues.

Now it will happily download the available chart, but then it crashed.

I noticed that in the preferences, it had now lost the name of the fingerprint file and the system key ... so I copied those names into the config file, from my account on o-charts, I used the full path for the name of the fprint file. The file still exists on the machine, and I hade taken an external backup, just in case.

Now, it will get as far as the accept agreement button, and as soon as I click it, it crashes.

Should I just delete it all and start over? re-using the fingerprint file is essential, as I don't have any spare slots on o-charts now.

.
The fpr file is just required to generate your key. Used for your individual chart set. Once the set installed on your system the fpr it is not required any longer.
The oesenc plug-in will recover the key from the installed set - you can see it there - and check it against the system running on.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Well, I am at a loss then ... the charts downloaded and installed, but after pressing "accept agreement" it just dies. Nothing interestign in the log.

I've tried killing off the old oeserverd processes that were hanging around, that didn't help.

Should I delete everything including the .opencpn directory and try again?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Rotation Plugin not working?

The chart never rotates to heading up as in O V4.x
NMEA HDG centences are there and correct. NMEA compass working fine.
Course up and north up work fine
It seems HDG up is now random up, and chart keeps this offset up direction if boat turns.

Also the icon from plugin get a black artifact when klicked if other canvas is selected
