Any obvious error report or other info on the failures to install?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

New version with split screen looks great

Tested my oeSENC, ENC and KAP charts, all work fine.

Link to Chart Rotation Control, NMEAconverter and AISradar Plugins gives a 404 not found.

Now if the old Dashboard plugin could be reworked to the new style interface. With multiple information boxes that could be positioned anywhere and locked in place

otcurrent_pi, vfkaps_pi, dr_pi all now correct for -ov50 (I hope) on GitHub Master branches.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Had a quick play off boat.

Superb job everyone.

1. The split screen is amazing.

2. The "reverse" route option to reorder / rename waypoints is also brilliant. It satisfies FS2376 that is still status undecided.

3. Selecting default WP Icons FS2292 is also partly achieved

Under..... >Options>Routes/Points

I added a comment to this Task

"The new icons are great. Just to comment on the ability to set a default icon for wp's when creating routes. Is it also possible to set the "Show WP name/no" as "ON" by default. At the moment after plotting a route you have to pick up each WP in the route and tick the box to show the name/number.
Could we have a default "Show Waypoint Name" when creating routes."

Any chance this could be implemented now the menu logic exists.

Exactly this is (somewhere) on my to-do list, sure won't be done by me for 5.0 though...

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

First off - thanks for all the hard work. This version is indeed an improvement!

I have been waiting for a build with mbtiles so when I saw this was included it has made me happy! I have been using SAS to create satellite views etc by using GE2KAP, but now that mbtiles are support it saves a large amount of time in creating charts! - Thanks!!

I do have three problems:
  1. When I create a mbtiles file in SAS with multiple zoom levels when OPCN displays it the first zoom level is fine, but as soon as I zoom in I get an OverZoom warning even when it shouldn't (ie the correct images are shown at the next zoom level)
  2. I have a large mbtiles file created in SAS at a single zoom level. When it is added into OPCN. OPCN crashes. I'm not sure if it's just the size or there are missing tiles in the mbtiles file (I didn't force a download of all tiles in SAS before creating the mbtiles)
  3. If i have two mbtiles files covering the same area (different zoom) levels I see an empty hole in my chart:

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Is it possible to tie the panning/moving around of charts between the two charts when in split screen mode?

geoffr.

1. Can you send us some links to mbtile sets that demonstrate your issues?

2. No, not possible to link panning for two canvases. Might be a good idea for feature request, though.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

All...

A number of Plugins on the O5 Plugin Tracking Page have been updated today.

https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/atp/48fb3bOH/5plugs.html

Take a look. Don't forget to update your browser page to secure the latest links and status.

Still, not all Plugins have been ported to O5 yet. It is an on-going process.

Enjoy
Dave

Would make sense with two chart sources of the same site on the two canvas.
Or different scales of the same region.

When synchronized then Autofollow should act on the two sides as well.
(to make things a little more challenging...)

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

It looks like many of us use SASPlanet to create the mbtiles charts. To demonstrate some of the issues, I made two small sample mbtiles, created with SASPlanet, showing Bing satellite imagery for zoomlevel 11-14: One for Pico, the other one for Faial, slightly overlapping.

See https://opencpn.org/flyspray/index.p...s&task_id=2456
