Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Release 4.99.1507

Smooth Panning/Zooming while taking measurements creates huge lag, not smooth anymore.

And while I said that crashing when switching apps from the Dock was fixed, it created another issue, leaving the Toolbar and Chart Panel Options visible randomly. See screenshot. Disappears when clicking into the new app. Minor problem tho.

Dave,

it's not unusual for me to zoom in or out using the trackpad/mouse while doing a measurement to place the 2nd or 3rd measurement point to its exact position.
And while doing so and with the 1st measurement point set, it creates lag when zooming in (or out). Means it doesn't zoom smoothly. Chart is kind of jumping into the zoom level. With the measurement tool activated and no measurement point set, it zooms perfectly fine.

Hope that makes it more clear.

Can't confirm jumps while zooming in/out measurement on macMini Mojave 10.14.3 and 4.99.1508-0d1569d
Everything same as always.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Release 4.99.1507

Hello,

W10. 4.99.1508-0d1569d

In "Options / Display / Advanced", there is an item that allows, in "OpenGL" OFF mode, to let the vertical icon bar be transparent.

No transparency occurs if it is checked.

Question: Is this option really useful?

Gilletarom...

I think you are correct. This option is not really relevant for O5 user interface model. One should use the toolbar AutoHide option instead.
I will remove it, unless I hear fierce objection.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Release 4.99.1507

hello,

W10. 4.99.1508-0d1569d.
A crash occurred while I use the iENC mode. I can not reproduce it. An error report is gone.

I take this opportunity to notice:
- it is possible to move the iENC icon bar. It's OK.
- it is impossible, as in O488, to put this icon bar vertically. Is this normal?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Release 4.99.1507

Well, I must be the only one having trouble opening the update download. When I click on the windows link in BD's post at the start of this thread, it returns me to the same place, the start of this thread. If I right click and open the post in a new window I get a blank page. I can click links in other threads and it works, so what is wrong?

Also, whilst I'm at it. are the plugins updated for this new version?

Hello,

By closing the light, which puts me in a situation of night navigation, I display "Options / Display / Model". I find that the texts of the boxes containing explanations on the models are little or poorly readable.

The texts should go in white on a black background in this case.

Boris...

The link in the first post of this thread, http://opencpn.navnux.org/beta/openc...e2dd_setup.exe, starts the download for me exactly as it has to...

Some of the plugins are already updated, some not, the list is kept as up to date as we are able to at https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/atp/48fb3bOH/5plugs.html

Red, or green, text on black would be best IMO

re:
"1. Select an item, say a track, and perform an operation (open properties, reduce a track etc.) close the operation and then use the arrow keys (up or down) to move the highlighted item and the highlight jumps to the top of the list. Very annoying when working with a large list as you have to scroll all the way down again or use the mouse instead of the arrow keys.

2. Sort a list and perform and operation on an item, the list is them resorted to the default alphabetical list. Can the sorting order remain persistent at least for the current session?"

Item #2 I understand. Will correct.
But Item #1 I do not understand your explanation. If you select a track, open properties, then close properties, then the arrow keys are not then focused on the track list. They are focused on the right hand buttons. You will need the mouse to select another track, anyway. At least as far as I can reproduce your actions....
Please try again.

Thanks
Dave

OK trying again with a set of screen shots.

  1. using arrow keys scroll down a list to select a track.
  2. open context menu and perform an action
  3. accept the action complete dialogue (focus remains on the edited track)
  4. hit down arrow to move to the next item you want to edit and focus/highlighted track jumps to first item in the track list.

Ahhh... "Context Menu" the key factor here, and Windows only, as it turns out.
OK, I got it.

Thanks
