OpenCPN Version 5.8.0 - Radar V5.5.0 not working
System:
Operating System: Kubuntu 22.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Kernel Version: 5.15.0-70-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-4570T CPU @ 2.90GHz
Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 4600
After installing the Radar plug-in with the Plug-in Manager and Enabling it, nothing !
The Radar Plug-in Icon is not added to the Tool Bar...
Is this a bug or I am missing something ?
Anyone ?
I am using OpenCPN daily...how can I help solve this issue ?
Regards,

SOLVE
Got it working after deleting the plug-in folder from the previous version of OpenCPN.

I had a similar problem as Serge. I am running OpenCPN 5.8.0 on my M1 Chip Mac and on a Raspberry Pi 4. On my Mac, OS 5.8.0 was running great and my Navico 4G radar was working perfectly too during my sail yesterday. However, during the sail, my computer went to sleep and when I woke it up, OpenCPN was still running, but the radar wasn't. I closed and restarted the radar plugin 5.5.0 and it seemed to recognize that there was a radar there, but couldn't find the serial numbers for either 4A or 4B. I restarted the whole program and tried again, but it did the same thing. Sometimes it would say "initializing" in the area where it's searching for the serial numbers, but it never found the serial numbers and did not start working again.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.0 - Radar V5.5.0 not working
I sounds like the radar plug-in is looking for the network IP address of the radar (what you call serial !?). Your computer could very well have lost its network connection going to sleep. Resetting everything should do the trick (aka cycling power on radar as well as computer).

I also need help with getting my radar to work with the upgraded OpenCPN. I upgraded from 5.6.2 to 5.8.0 and updated my Raspberry Pi 4 to Bullseye from Buster. The program is working fine, but there are only four plugins available in the plugin option and radar isn't one of them. I have a Navico 4G radar and was running the Radar 5.5.0 plugin before and it was working great, but I don's see the CatalogExpert=0 variable in the configuration file in the new version of Open CPN so how do I get the radar plugin, the Draw Plugin, or any of the other plugins that were there before.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.0 - Radar V5.5.0 not working
The CatalogExpert=1 option has to be added manually to the [PlugIns] section of the config file, it is normally not there at all with either value.
On my ARM64 bullseye system, plugins are normally available, including radar, using the OpenCPN package for Focal from the PPA as well as using Flatpak package.
Using the Flatpak version is the preferred method of installation as it saves you the trouble of figuring out what PPA release is correct for your Debian/Raspbian/whatever system.
As a note, the Draw plugin is not yet available in the master catalog, only in Beta.

Can you make this one install? I would appreciate. Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking for, but the macOS package for the plugin you attached installs and works just fine.

I added the CatalogExpert=1 line right below the [PlugIns] line and saved it, but when I restart the program, that line is not there anymore and I still can't access any other catalog than Master. Is there something I need to do besides go to the "File"/Save command to make it keep the CatalogExpert=1 line in the config file?
Also, can you give me a little more info about using the Flatpack package so that the other plugins show up? Do I go to the "Terminal" to load the Flatpack package and, if so, what are the commands I need to put in the terminal to do that.
Thank you for your help.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.0 - Radar V5.5.0 not working
You must edit the config file while OpenCPN is not running.
https://flatpak.org/setup/Raspberry%20Pi%20OS
then
Code:
flatpak install org.opencpn.OpenCPN

I am running OpenPlotter because I want to make use of the SignalK capability regarding the other NMEA 2000 equipment I have on my boat if that also makes a difference.

Just to make sure, you are not running the 32 bit version of the system anymore, are you?

I don't think I ever ran a 32 bit version, but how do I check?
