OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Release Candidate 1 (RC1)

Hello all OpenCPN users.

Here is Release Candidate 1 (RC1) of the formal Beta Test series for OpenCPN 5.7.1. This Beta test series will result in the Production release of OpenCPN 5.8.0, when ready.

Notes:
1. This is a Release Candidate. This means:
a) All known bugs have been addressed and resolved, at least insofar as has been confirmed by the Original Poster (OP).
b) All Translations from crowdin have been integrated.
c) Accordingly, in theory this RC1 could be converted to on official Release of O5.8.0 by a simple Version number change, with no other modifications necessary.

2. Translators: Here is your chance to look carefully at all your translated strings, and make adjustments in crowdin as necessary.

Please know that this code base, as it stands, will be the "official" OpenCPN v5.8.0 distribution. We are making all efforts to release the best possible application.
Please do not assume that "somebody else" will note any unreported issues. Bring them up here, and they will be addressed. We are determined to drive out all general bugs reported.

Hello Dave,

I had carried out two tests the day before yesterday and yesterday with the penultimate and the last unstable versions of 5.7.1 + xxxxx...

There were things that didn't work, especially with WR.

To be sure to have a good test with the RC1, I chose to completely uninstall OpenCPN.

A note: The "C:\Users\Gilletarom1\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugin s" folder is not deleted. See screenshot. This is the folder that contains the plugins. I realized this phenomenon yesterday, I confirm it today before installing the RC1.

To clean the PC more completely and make a completely new installation, I will manually delete this folder.

When using the options access icon for the first time, the window opens but does not expand.

Is this a new voluntary choice, or not?

I don't have any other device where I can install OpenCPN. So it is impossible for me to correctly test the sending of a waypoint by "Send to peer".

Nevertheless, I acted as if I could do it.

By testing the impossibilities, it seems to me that it malfunctions.

But, I am not able to describe the events well.

1° I installed some plugins. The tested installations worked correctly.

2° But I see that the Draw plugin is missing from the Master catalog. Under these conditions, it is impossible to operate Weather Routing.

3° You must add "CatalogExpert=1 to be able to access the "Beta" catalog. Could the addition of this item in the "opencpn.ini" file be semi-automated by placing an "Add" button in the window of the screenshot ?

After installing some plugins and adding the text "CatalogExpert=1" in the "opencpn.ini" file, restarting OpenCPN, I got a message telling me that OpenCPN had terminated abnormally the previous time.

I don't know when there was an anomaly that could have caused an abnormal stop.

So I place if attached the log file.

Regarding the WR plugin:

Removing start and end points from road weather does not work well. but, using the "Delete All" command, you can actually delete everything.

This is probably an internal bug in the plugin itself.

Hello Dave,

Regarding the Grib plugin:

1° The RTOFS model apparently contains only two types of data: Current and Water Temperature.

Or, some data is not displayed?

2° To use the WR plugin, in my navigation region (Atlantic, Channel, North Sea) along the coasts of Europe, you need at least two pieces of information: Wind and Current.

However, none of the models offered by the GRIB plugin contains these two data simultaneously.

So, would it be possible that, a GFX grib and an RTOFS grib were loaded, the wind and current data would be merged into a custom created grib file so that WR could be used?

Otherwise, I regret once again that the Grib files of OpenSkiron are not available in the files available by the plugin.

Hm If I do a search for "Send to Peer" at Crowdin, then it is not in the list. appearently
