Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #3

P_Dub...
I have recently navigated almost 2000 miles using the most recent OpenCPN codebase with S57, S63, oeSENC, CM93, raster and mbtiles charts, hundreds of waypoints in the area and some 40000 miles worth of older tracks loaded as layers. It worked better than 5.6.2 does, for me, on my system.
Are there still bugs that need fixing before 5.8 is released and can affect you (And were there bugs that affected me during this passage and are already fixed or waiting to be fixed)? Sure yes, but if you don't help us finding and fixing them, they simply won't get fixed and will make it to the final release anyway, so there is nothing to wait for if you want to be part of the game. If you don't, stick with 5.6.2 for now and get surprised by 5.8, someone else could have had the same problems as you, or not.

Something odd going on with the second digit of the tide level. looks like two digits, 2 and 3, are overlaid.

Dave
OpenCPN 5.7.1+b9a38cd in this version (the last I could get) the current panel in S57 charts are still not correct giving the strenght of the current in degrees instead of knots.
Thanks.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #3

On the S57 vector charts there is little square representing the same panel as on the raster charts and it shows the direction and strenght of the current and directions at interval of 1hour acording to a main station of tide predictions. I have already reported that and it needs to be corrected.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #3

Hi,

Mbtiles only seem to display or appear on the piano bar if they cover the centre of the screen. Their outline does display all the time assuming view-outlines is selected.

OpenCPN version 5.7.1+9715290.

Best regards,

Aedan

SoggyPaws...
We think we have discovered and fixed the fault in "track-stepping" as reported earlier.
If you would like to test and confirm the fix, you may download and install the latest OCPN build here:
https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/davi...995d_setup.exe

Thanks

Sorry to be off topic.

Today I was able to see the "Status Bar" plugin does not work correctly with version 5.7.1+172.e92995d. The plugin bar remains black.

On the other hand, with a slightly older version, 5.7.1+9715290, the "status bar" bar was green in color and the text was displayed.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #3

Hi,

For some reason I keep having problems with O-Charts; now whenever I quit OpenCPN (to update for instance) and open it again, it tells me I overzoom. I have two maps displayed, one 1:218000 and the other 1:3600. If I zoom out and in again, everything works fine, on both maps (RPi 4, 8GB, 64bit, flatpak). I have the same on my boat, but different scales (1:87000 and 1:5800, RPi 4, 4GB, 64bit, flatpak).

I am going to exchange those, since I like the scales on the 8GB version better, and there is no way to use those on the 4GB one.

Why can't you adjust the chart scale to the value you want by using the Ocpn chart scale change facility?

Thanks.

P_dub In a very recent compiled master branch, it appears to be fixed.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #3

WE are not taking about the same. The panel related is OK now, but was not in some version. What I was referring to was the panel showing the current like on the raster charts, which was implemented on S57.Attached Thumbnails

Moo...

Will you tell me the location of this tide station (Lat/Lon) ?
I think it possible that the legend for the tide report is overlaying a chart sounding. You can test by turning OFF tide stations, or soundings, and investigate.

Thanks
Dave

I think I have an solution for this. Can you pls send a copy of the S57 ENC chart that you are using? One cell will do, it is just for testing.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #3

It Is OK now, this was in the previous version. These charts are CHS and I suppose that S57 of other country have the same. The only thing to add to be logical is to add kn after the strenght of the current.
