Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

I tested the WeatherRouting plugin. But, along our coasts, with a lot of rocks, many small islands and shoals, you have to create areas with the Draw plugin.

Draw is not present in the master catalog but it is present in the beta catalog.

I was able to install Draw the beta version of Draw, load pre-existing areas, and get WeatherRouting to work more fully without issue.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Hi Dave

Well I tested and this problem continues, but it does not occur with all .gpx files referring to Layers.

I tested with files from various sources, including some available for download on the OpenCPN website, and one of those that are having problems because they are not viewed on the charts, are those referring to the ZEE, although they are not the only ones.

I do not think it is necessary for me to upload these files, since they are available on the said OpenCPN website, so you can see the above yourself by downloading the files directly

When this problem arose in version 5.6.2, I notified you about what happened, and you as far as I can remember, mentioned at that time that you had already noticed the problem and that you already knew the reason, and that you would fix it in the next update, so I'm just remembering this problem that continues.

As I recall, it seems there was some incompatibility of OpenCPN with the data of some .gpx files, as regards permanent layers or not.

I'm using OpenCPN to Windows (Windows 10)

I hope I have clarified and in advance thank you for your attention and goodwill.

Carl

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Gille..
N2k sources are not able to record with VDR.
The method so far is to play a captured N2k data stream. The capture and replay is only possible using a Linux SocketCAN. At least to my knowledge. There are a few captured files available if you want to play and have a RPi or other Linux. Pls revert for further help on this. An general overview here.

VDR does not support Nmea2000 files.
Just Nmea0183!!!

If it were possible to download some, it would be of great service to me to update the tutorial in French opencpn.fr

So ???? Thank by advance.

Linux Mint Mate 21.1 64 bit. Using the version from Launchpad (not Flatpak).

Crashes immediately after start.

Absent any features let alone a specification for logging, replaying or debugging NMEA 2000 data in the next release of OCPN, the simplest approach on Linux is to use the candump and canplayer tools to capture and replay NMEA 2000 data.

You can also analyze the NMEA 2000 data captured by candump with the canboat analyzer utility.

Note that for testing purposes you don't need a real NMEA 2000 network you can use a virtual CAN interface (eg. vcan).

Feel free to ping me if you need further information..

ZUZA...
Thanks for the memory jog.

I would appreciate a specific link to a file that does not work correctly, so that we (and others) can compare exact results. One of your choosing....

Thanks
Dave

OpenCPN Runs very well. All with the Oesenc plugin working.

This on a RPI4 with 2 GB. A 4 GB RPI4 is still not available.

With the latest Eeprom version Raspian OS can be installed direct form the internet server.

No longer using an SD card but running from a fast USB3.1 64 GB stick.

Now tested the OpenCPN Flatpak version with input from my Canable Canbus adapter and my Garmin GPS antenna.

Works well with direct NMEA2000 input in O on a Raspian(Bullseye) aND Ubuntu Kinetic.

I have to generate the Can0 with the next sentence in the terminal:

sudo ip link set can0 up type can bitrate 250000.

Can be setup direct on at the startup.

But direct input does not work on my Fedora Rawhide for the RPI. Also the SignalK server does not work correctly on this new version. There seems to be a missing file.

Seems to be that socketcan is missing.

Thanks for your patience

After about 10 years of attemps to make a package for macOSX still not knows how this OS works?
OK, after some times learned now that dynamic libraries belongs into the Contents subfolder Frameworks, however there are still 17 symbolic link files which is absolutely wrong.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

OK Dave and Others

I am uploading the files to exemplify.

I planned to send files from different versions and sources, but unfortunately the other files already tested, are larger than allowed to upload, so I had to use these as examples.

Thanks

Carl

To upload larger files just change the file extension to something like ...gpx.doc for example. And advice about the change.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

One suggestion for your next version:- instead of circle around lights just have the possibility to have the same as the buoys, just ordinary light shape. That would surely be appreciated. Many thanks.
