Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.2 Released

Terry...

Looks like this is a valid bug in O 4.8.2. Too bad it got missed in the Beta testing.

Your workaround, while awkward, seems reasonable. I guess the orphan file does no harm, it is just untidy.

Thanks for the feedback

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.2 Released

Played back a couple of VDR files.

With rausch.txt SOG/COG appears in the status bar. With '2013-07-09-Mardi_Den-Helder_Ile_de_Texel' SOG/COG are not shown ("---").

Using O 4.8.0 both files show SOG/COG.

'Mardi' does not have NMEA 'ZDA'. Is this the reason?

ShipDriver is not working properly with 4.8.2 and I wonder if an NMEA sentence needs adding.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.2 Released

Anybody experience Blur/fog effects on ovezooming with raster Charts?
That you use Suppress or not, there is no difference. OpenGL on or off either.
As far as the scaling of arrows of current, that is good thing that was ask a good while ago. Thanks for including it.
Regards.
Note:- the blurring does not happen with vector charts.

Your'e right. I may have read to fast. How does Win10 handle this. One program is set as the mail program, but if both users are active in the same login?
No idea. Sorry

Thank you Hakkan for being interested in the curious phenomenon I encountered with Thunderbird, and that I had indicated here # 10

BUT :

I had installed O482 without doing a good installation. This because I wanted to keep a version built by Did-g. But I was in doubt and cleaned up. I uninstalled the Did-g and O482 versions cleanly. Then, CCleaner as usual.
And I re-install O482 with some plugin like VDR and OeSENC.

I find that the problem with Thunderbird has disappeared.

How explain this ???? but

I do not confirm Mike's observation. With the "Mardi ..." file which I own the original version, using VDR, I have no problem with the COG and SOG, both in a dashboard and in the status bar.

I don't know but just for info I've never cleaned anything as you use to do. I always just install a new version or back to an old and a newer again. Never seen anything strange out of that. I'm not at all criticizing your method. Just to mention there are different ways of doing things.
And we're all happy I hope.

'Mardi' is now showing SOG/COG!!! I deleted my .ini file and set things up from new. ShipDriver is working properly on 4.8.2.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.2 Released - AIS targets size

It seems to me that under 4.8.2 - the size of AIS targets icons is pretty much larger than under previous versions. When you have several targets close to each order you must zoom very close to separate the different targets from each other

Tested with opengl on/off - ubuntu 16.04 X64

Aha,,, at -4 it looks normal. The default "0" setting seems to me for most situations to be abnorm.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.2 Released

Dave and Pavel, Dave wrote that it is a big job to recompile all the plugins (I think the context was linux), but I wonder if you are considering moving wxWidgets and MSVC++ forward too, or will that be later?
Thanks.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.8.2 Released

PS: Also I saw some discussion about continuing support for Win XP, and wonder if users should be preparing to move on to Win10 to be ready for the next version of O? In other words, do you think the next version will support or not support XP? It would be good to give users some advance warning. I suppose they have the option of not updating O for awhile too.
