OpenCPN Version 4.6.0 Released

Just to add another problem.

I upgraded from 4.4.0 to 4.6.0.

I am getting strange things happening with the zoom (using the mouse wheel).
Initially everything is fine then after a while the mouse wheel seems to "kind of" pan the screen.
This happens with raster (KAP) and vector (CM93) charts.
It can happen with just KAP charts or with just vector charts or with a quilted mix.
However, OpenCPN does not crash and switching to another chart set resolves the problem for a while but soon it reoccurs.

Turning off quilting seems to fix the problem

Could be related to the OpenGL problem but I get this with and without OpenGL enabled.

I tried a complete uninstall and reinstall after deleting the OpenCPN folder - same problem.

I've gone back to version 4.4.0 which seems very stable.

Installed on Win 10 Pro. No problems at install. However, feels 'slow' with CM93 charts displayed. Chart scroll is slower vs. an older PC with less RAM / ROM and a weaker CPU/GPU.

I will try to do more testing and gps drivers later.

Sounds a bit odd.

Am I understanding that the zoom-wheel at some point becomes a "pan" wheel?

Any more information you have would be very helpful.

Thanks for the report.

O4.6.0 has known performance issues on Windows if you have many, many waypoints or routes visible on-screen.

Is this the case for you?

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 / 64 bit
It seems like most (all?) dialogs listing multiple entries, such as
AIS Target list
Chart Files
Plugins
does not accept scrolling with the wheel.

Is this just me, or can anyone else see the same problem?

Did you make a change to the switch /unit_test_1 ?

It asks for a quantity now. Sorry if Im late to the game.

I encountered the same bug as well, but on Mac OS X 10.11.6, OpenCPN 4.6.0 and qtVlm 5.4.7. Upon right-click in OpenCPN, the app crashes and please find hereunder the beginning of the crash report. The behaviour is reproducible and occurs each time.

I actually have huge fps drop (below 20 constantly and most of the time 1-5 fps) using 4.6.0 without any waypoints/routes but 4.4.0 works just fine. Running Windows 7 64-bit. Any other information you wan't to have to investigate the issue further?

The FPS calculation on OCPN 4.6.0 is incorrect. This will be fixed shortly in a maintenance release.

Without an accurate FPS calculation, it is difficult to compare version performance quantitatively. Best bet for now is to install two parallel versions, O44 and O46. This will cause both versions to use exactly the came config and chart sets, and so subjective measurements are comparable, at least.

I have seen the same thing. It seems that the quantity is numbers of times to run the unit test, so you have the possibility to run the test n times to stress the system.

Version 4.6.0 seems quite solid on Linux CentOS 7.3, except for the additional plugins not marked as 4.6.0. If I install any of the following, simply clicking on Options->Plugins causes an immediate crash:

Climatology
S63
sQuidd
Weatherfax

I have also built 4.6.0 from source, as well as the Weather Routing plugin. Weather Routing does not cause a crash, but does not show up under Plugins. It seems PlugInManager looks in /usr/local/lib64/opencpn for plugins, and the Weather Routing plugin is installed by make in /usr/local/lib/opencpn.

Any thoughts?

You can see how many charts you have in the downloader plugin.

I tried it with 500. It just ran thru the charts several times.
