Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.0 Released

Not sure why so many waypoints only affects windows.

Does anyone have performance problems without any waypoints compared to 4.4?

Do we need to implement support to render millions of waypoints similar to trackpoints? It would not be much effort.

Sean...

Read my note above, and the code.

This bug is well understood now. We will wait a decent interval before releasing a 4.6.1 patch.

Carcode,

I have built V4.6 against wx 3.1 and the problem remains. This issue is with Windows 10 I believe and not wx.

Correct, it was fixed in August 2016 for macOS but not for Windows.

Haven't seen this behaviour with 4.4, but maybe didn't look hard enough. Anyway, compare attached screenshots at two adjoining zoom levels.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.0 Released

Dave,

Two French users who do not master English asks me to report this:

QtVlm ---> OpenCPN.

QtVlm : Version : 5.4-8-patch2 (Feb 18 2017)

Unable to copy a route into QtVlm and paste it into OpenCPN with version 4.6. This causes an OpenCPN crash.

But it works well with version 4.4. One of them said me that O crash both W XP or W10.

Attached the route file that one of the two users sent me. unzip it after put out ".doc"

I try myself with this route and also crash.

here join 2 screen copy on my PC.

For me, too big route. ?

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.0 Released

Installed O4.6 with a reasonably clean, simple Opencpn.ini (recent cleanup, not many waypoints in navobj.xml) and it works very well on Win10 older Laptop, opengl enabled using Intel Graphics board not Nvidia yet. Great Job Dave. Thank you!

I could not help but take a look at the Help files, and the result of Dokuwiki SiteExport Plugin. I am certain there was considerable hand editing because it would not complete properly and you've both done a wonderful job piecing together the results of that plugin.

Hopefully we can get some changes so it works better next time. I'll submit a github issue re setting the require html anchor for internal bookmarked links, as Dokuwiki normally just uses the namespace and title for anchor/bookmarks.

Great Job. Thank you.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.0 Released

Rick,

I agree with you. This release is going to be a winner. I went out and bought a new Windows 10 laptop yesterday. It was pricey at $900 but comes with two hard drives (256GB SSD + 1TB rotating). I have V4.6 running on it and it is blindingly fast in OpenGL mode. Also, it seems to me the ENC rendering is now almost as pretty as the RNC raster charts at least for the NOAA charts.

A lot of work went into this release especially for the people that need Inland ECDIS mode. I had no idea how many people were being forced into buying thousands of Euros worth of gear and now hopefully they don't have to.

Kudos to Dave and the rest of the team.

FWIW, I submitted a patch to fix the linux gtk part in FS #2193 (https://opencpn.org/flyspray/index.p...s&task_id=2193) a few weeks ago, but it's still in 'unconfirmed' state...

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.0 Released

Hi Dave,
I just updated my debian system via the Ubuntu PPA.
When I drag the chart, a specific area isn't painted correctly, see attached screenshot.
This is not the case with (parallel installed) 4.4.0

I attached the log as pdf.
The bug shows, when I drag the chart up and the new area comes up from behind the chart-bar.
After playing with it a bit more, I noted that it is critical for the bug to show, that the 11°15 E line is visible. This is a border for some of the sub-charts. As soon as I move the mouse pointer over the bottom status bar, the chart is repainted correctly.
I couldn't reproduce it on any other part of the chart.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.6.0 Released

Hi Dave,

The version 4.6 seems to not working with S-57 vector charts. All existing installed ENC simply disappeared once the new version installed. Changing the scale up and down did help a bit. However, charts appeared to simply displayed or not displayed according to scale. Once downgrade back to 4.4, everything back to normal.

I have captured a sequence of screen showing the displays while changing displaying scale. The behavior looks very much like the problem with the Andriod version.
