Dave & Jesper

While checking out the Great Lakes Polyconic charts............

Very strange depth info in cm93, Lake Erie seems to have a "universal" DEPARE of 5 or 5.5m in huge areas, no matter what depth is displayed on the charts.

FS 828, the Polyconic zoom problem is mostly fixed. However if you drag the chart past the file status bar you get this. Sometimes you have to drag the chart to the top of the screen

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.1 Beta Build 0625

I have one additional very low priority problem: Using ENC charts for district 9, I get grey areas that disappear on zoom in and reappear on zoom out. It doesn't seem to occur until you pan around a bit and zoom in and out.

A nit (I think) - Didn't the floating tool bar stay where you left it between restarts of 2.5? This could be a side effect of allowing multiple copies of O.

David...

Acknowledge your two bugs.

1. Polyconic clipping...Easy fix, probably not dangerous at this point. Will include in next 3.0.1 Beta if we have one.

2. ENC gray areas: On the list for Release 3.2 this fall, you will see it first in the 3.1 Beta series starting soon

I do not understand your comment re toolbar. More please?

Thanks
Dave

When using Openpn, I like to move the tool bar to the right side of the screen. This bumps the GPS status icon to the lower left. I think I started doing this when using the GE plugin, which likes to load on the left. IIRC the toolbar would stay where you left it after restarting Opencpn. Not a big deal, and I may be remembering incorrectly.

OK, I see that bug. It only occurs when there are PlugIn icons in the toolbar. Researching now....

Thanks

Dave,

The problem or bug with opening the com port when using the GPS and the AP on the same port, is that one fixed as well or is it still under investigation?

Thanks in advance,
George

George....

We need to start all over again with this bug. I've lost track of all your virtual ports, muxes, and logfiles. My head is still spinning.

What I do know is that using standard serial ports, GPS input and A/P output can co-exist on the same port. That is my everyday underway scenario. Works fine.

So, can you describe again the simplest configuration you are considering?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.1 Beta Build 0625

Of course Dave

Scenario I'd like to use:
Multiplexer <-> USB cable <-> Laptop (Com 9) ---> OpenCPN: GPS com 9 + AIS com 9 _ AP com 9

Current configuration because error "failed to open com 9" when trying to connect AP on com 9 as well:
Multiplexer <-> usb cable <-> com 9 on the laptop for Opencpn GPS + AIS
Input on multiplexer <-> usb2serial <-> laptop com 6 for opencpn AP

Does this help Dave?

George...

OK, thanks. Lets focus on the second setup. A/P on separate com port COM6.

Set up a simple VSPE connector to allow monitoring of COM6 with hyperterm, or something like that. We want to see only COM6.

Create and activate a route. Watch for output on the hyperterm window. Anything there?

George...

I still don't understand the connection between the multiplexer and COM6 in the second scenario.

Re: OpenCPN Version 3.0.1 Beta Build 0625

Dave,

Sorry if I was 't clear. By using the second connection on com 6, I'm able to send rmb and rmc to the AP (as well as to the Clipper GPS). This is perhaps a workaround. Ic it is not possible to open one and the same om port for the gps and for the AP, than this setup will become permanent.

The start of my other post was because opencpn fails to open the same com port for gps as well as for the AP. I'd hoped that one usb connection between my laptop and the multiplexer would cover all data exchange within the board network.

Hope this explains. If not, please ask me for further explaination.

OK, I get it.
So, what happens if the A/P is by itself on COM6, and you create and activate a route? Does anything come out of COM6?

Yes Dave, it does.

The error in the log files occurs when you try to open the same port for the GPS and the AP.

George

p.s.
Is there any way to get a GSA sentence as output?
