How does Vista like the attached patch (done against vanilla git)?
Vista:
- every third F10 press is a NOP
- the strange OCPN-labelled black minimized ghost is still there, and has something in common with my Orange Internet application, which is suspicious
- the way the window reappears back in non-full-screen mode is heart-stopping, but it does work
Full screen is very nice, but I miss the GPS signal indicator... takes some time to get used to ship icon symbols instead.
By the way Layout() also does the trick in fullscreen mode, so we can have the toolbar even there. Will post a complete patch when I figure out the third F10 press problem and test it doesn't break the Linux port.
1. You have to right click on the very bottom of the tide graph icon to get the detail window to show.
See FS#128
a patch is proposed to put the selection zone in the middle of the icon

On the shot above , I can't see the station's names to verify , but the tide height unity shown is the one in the harmonic files (and off course the same as in the detail window) . That is why it's shown to ovoid any ambiguity
In addition some values can be displayed not clearly (over written). That means there are double entries for these stations in the files ; one entry as main station and one entry as secondary station ; only the best one should be kept
Testers...
The best I can produce on the fullscreen field. I'm really out of ideas on how to fix the last remaining problem...
It looks like there is a problem in F10 handling on Windows (some wxPython guys have seen the same) - changing the key used to F11 works. And as F11 is a fullscreen key used in a lot of other applications (Firefox for example) I just changed it.
There is a new checkbox on Etc. config tab allowing the user to choose whether to display the toolbar in fullscreen or not.
The only remaining glitch: On Windows, when you already have had the fullscreen toolbar shown in the current session and you choose to turn it off in the Prefs, there will still be a toolbar artifact which moves to the background as soon as the chart canvas is moved. Really don't know how to get rid of it as at that time the toolbar is destroyed already, so this "thing" should be dead...
Guys,
I know you are a bit impatient, but you simply have to wait until someone having access to opencpn.org has time to build and upload the new version. I don't.
Until then you can build from source, of course. It's not hard and your testing results will be much more helpful to us. Instructions at Compiling - Windows | Official OpenCPN Homepage
Hey guys, I've proposed this user interface simplification. Any input would be appreciated. FS#400
Feature/Changes:
1. Button bar/ribbon does not fill entire viewport (could also be made semi-transparent) (also could hide after timeout when mouse is not moving to give more screen realestate)
2. Removed status bar (cusor position, sog, cog, and from ownship should move to dashboard) (chart scale added to status box @ bottom left)
3. Doubled size of scalebar to make more visible (added numerical indication of scale ( 0.1NMi or 1.0 NMi)
4. Compass, Gps status, chart scale moved to bottom left (distinguishes from buttons)
5. S57 in chart bar only has single green icon (s57 should work like cm93) (what are your thoughts on this... how to handle when s57 not available ... perhaps there is a world s57 chart we could include)
6. chart bar does not fill entire viewport
7. left clicking on compass is not intuitive to toggle head/north up (this should have a tooltip and/or right click menu)
Opens OK with the following set-up (sorry for the french version, OpenCpn also crashes when I try to switch to English US locale): no quilting, show chart boundaries
Crashes when I tick 'quilting' then OK
Log included
Same problem with the previous beta
-----
Correction added
I get OCpn to crash just by clicking OK in the toolbox window, without any change in the parameters
Quick test of OpenCPN 2.4.412 for Vista seems to work normally except:
1. Dimming button does not work.
2. Full screen F10 (?) does not work
3. Strange double OpenCPN icon at the bottom bar.
4. While playing around with the layers button I had a crash.
5. Grid geo ref text still difficult to see against certain backgrounds.
Any chance in future for optional color/illumination?
And a million thanks for all the improvements we don't see!
Tore
