When you update your CHS charts, you also have do a force rebuild.

When Norton anti-virus lapsed i had no screen display when i tried to openCPN - nothing. using Control Panel, Programs and Features, i removed Norton.

Then I removed the chart directory from openCPN and the windows plug-in for BSB4 files.

Then using Control Panel, Programs and Features, i removed openCPN and and downloaded a fresh copy and placed charts and the BSB4 plug in the plug-in directory.

Then i actived the BSB4 plug-in and went to charts and forced a rebuild. No Canadian charts. Did this twice. no luck

Went to Plug-ins and activated dashboard and GRIB then forced rebuild of charts. IT WORKED; YOU HAVE TO ENABLE DASHPOT AND GRIB plus BSWB4 and then FORCE A REBUILD - apparently

I am allowed two copies of the Canadian charts so will have a backup computer more or less dedicated to OpenCPN and will let you know if i have any more problems

i am having trouble getting the canadian charts to work again?

the only difference i note is that force rebuild does not appear in charts and you can tell that the canadian charts are not compiled. the u.s. charts work fine.

from reading the tread BSB4, 2011 Canadian Chart Problem [pics] i see that you have to point at charts to C:/ChartKit/BSBChart and not C:/ChartKit as i had done. the canadian charts compiled immediately upon making the change. now everything works.

Just a note that I got my Newfoundland charts to display by (1) loading and enabling the bsb4 dll in the ocpn plugin directory, and (2) pointing ocpn chart toolbox to the relevant Newfoundland BSB chart directory. There was no need to specifically acknowledge the encryption directory within ocpn.

I saw mention of directions for the bsb4 plugin, but don't know where they might be located (in ocpn manual perhaps?). Thanks all, as usual, for a great job.

i have 2 aspire one netbooks running windows 7 starter and openCPN crashed in connecticut - both machines. i uninstalled mcafee and norton from both machines and saved charts and plugin dll and uninstalled openCPN - both machines.

next i saved openCPN to the desktop on both machines. this way i can rebuild at sea if necessary. installed openCPN on both machines.

i had trouble getting the Canadian charts to work but then they did on one machine so we have left it as such and fell blessed.

did the same on the second machine but on this machine we use for US charts only and only run at most two states at a time.

getting into plymouth, mass harbor at night would have been impossible without openCPN. didn't realize that most buoys are not lit and being color blind that green buoys have flat tops and red buoys have pointed tops.

Hello, having problems installing the plugin: Incompatible PlugIn detected:C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins/bsb4_win32_pi15_v10_pi.dll.

Not sure whats wrong. 1) I reload the plugin with same result. 2) rechecked location of plugin folder and as indicated in atached log file it did detect it, but no luck. 3) restarted opencpn and also laptop.
I'm running windows 7, here is the log file.
