OpenCPN Setting Waypoints as it goes along?

We have OpenCPN running for continuous periods when making passages. Every now and then we find that our little boat has left a new waypoint in its wake. There does not seem to be any pattern to this. There is no regular time period between them, and it doesn't seem to be related to us switching to other programs on the lapop.

Any ideas where these waypoints are coming from?

LifePart2...
The most probable cause is you hitting Space key - the keyboard command to create a waypoint on boat's location.

Hi,

Version of OS version and OpenCPN ?

It sounds to me like like when the power settings allows the computer to go to bed.

It has been acting like this for me (W8 - opeCPN 3.2) but this is not a real problem, all these unuseful waypoint can be deleted.

I am on Windows 8 with OpenCPN 3.2 as well. But maybe it is that space key - will be more careful next time and try to figure it out

Its the spacebar. When you leave the computer for a few minutes the screen goes blank, doesnt it? To het the screen back on you move the mouse or hit the spacebar? The spacebar drops a waypoint.

Or,.... you just accidently hit it sometimes.
