Re: OpenCpn problem with OpenGL

My OpenGL issue with Intel 620 has existed since the laptop was new out the box. Windows updates were carried out, but I don't know if new graphics drivers were installed automatically. I have held back from chasing after new drivers, for fear of irreversibly updating to a worse situation.
So, to confirm...
V5.1.6xx on Intel 620 and original drivers has display issues with OpenGL selected.
V5.0.518 on Intel 620 appears to work with OpenGL.

Re: OpenCpn problem with OpenGL

Tim...
We have multiple posters here, so maybe some confusion...
What display issues do you see with 5.1.612?
ScreenShot?
Also, can you report the OCPN logfile section showing the exact OpenGL setup for your 620 chip, using 5.1.612?

As you can see from my logfile entries, I have 620 chip, with driver:
No problems observed here.

ChartCanvas.cpp:1212 OpenGL-> Renderer String: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620
23:15:03.494 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1221 OpenGL-> Version reported: 4.5.0 - Build 24.20.100.6286T

Re: OpenCpn problem with OpenGL

OK, I will re-install 612 and try to get the log file.
In the meantime, the issue I have is that with Intel 620 and running v612 and OpenGL selected, the whole screen alternates between normal and completely black, at a frequency of about 0.5 seconds.
As soon as I turn OpenGL off, the screen becomes normal.

Re: OpenCpn problem with OpenGL

Tim...
If possible, will you disable/remove all plugins and confirm the 0.5 sec flashing on version 5.1.612?

Thanks

Re: OpenCpn problem with OpenGL

Evening all, I tried the version opencpn_5.0.518_Intel_600_ on my windows 10 laptop but still got the striped charts. For those for whom it absolutely has to work now and have the same problem: I unistalled the version above and the version 5.0 en reinstalled the version OCPN 4.8. This words flawlessly wit open GL activated. I now have an asus laptop with windows 8.1 and open cpn version 5.0 that work perfectly and another laptop with windows 10 and opencpn version 4.8 that also works perfectly. Will have to do for now...

Re: OpenCpn problem with OpenGL

Today I installed the latest update from Intel and everything works fine now!
Thanks all who invested time in this.
Apparently, the problem lay with Intel all the time, not OpenCPN

Re: OpenCpn problem with OpenGL

Hello,

I install OpenCPN on my laptop, but openCPN displays maps with green stripes.
OpenCPN 5.8.4-0
my laptop is : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
with Windows 11
Intel(R) UHD Graphics
NVDIA Geforce RTX 2060

Same problem by User Kanoet, was not solved in last post in 2020.
Please, someone has idea to get rid of those green stripes ?
Thank you

The OpenGL option gives a blurred screen, see attachment.
It was fine before the update.
Can anyone help?

On laptops that have both integrated intel graphics and nvidia graphics, you should go into the bios setup and disable the intel graphics. It is often called "discrete graphics" on an advanced setup page.

I don't know if this will fix the problem with OCPN, but the whole having 2 graphics chips share the task of performing graphics functions breaks a lot of other software I use.
