OpenCpn presentation at boat exibithion in Norway

On the 20 of March 2019, a presentation and demo of OpenCpn was helt at the "Sjøen for alle" boat exibithion in Norway. " Sjøen for alle is the major Norwegian boat exibithion and also one of the largest boat exibithions in Scandinavia.


The presentation was held in cooperation with the Norwegian map authorities "Kartverket" and included demonstration and use of OEsenc maps for Opencpn.

Almost all seats was occupied during the 30 minutes presentation and following the demonstration / presentation there was a lot of questions from the public witch showed great interest for usage of OpenCpn.

A lot of positive feedback from exsisting users tha official maps is now available for most of Europe if using Oesenc maps.

OpenCPN is phenomenal.
I even bought a Panasonic toughbook and loaded it, unfortunately I’m either not smart enough, or not motivated enough to actually Implement it, but for those that are computer literate, it seems to be more useful and powerful than even the best plotters.

In general I copy Petter's list.
Our demonstration was intended to focus on news in O ver5.0 and O-Charts contents. The dual Canvas and the new functionality for the Autofollow modes was of course well received.

O is phenomenal. Indeed! But your expression smart enough is not agreed but more motivation. On my demonstrations I use to express it like you need to have some kind of interests to handle your PC or tablet. And in some matter to like to read manuals.
So it can be added to Petter's list, in my case, a Swedish translation of the O-wiki. That one will probably fall back to myself but I haven't found the time so far.

Congratulations on the presentations in Norway and Sweden.

Thomas' Opencpn 5.0 Changes User Document is excellent.

But, Yes we need to update and rewrite the manual, with all new and organized and methodically labeled screenshots.

I think we should entertain big and small ideas for how to improve it.

I would like to see an effort towards a organization for a "Bare Bones" User Manual, that is easy to translate and is the essential information to setup and use .

With additional chapters which have more detail and advanced features, which can be translated later.

I don't know how best to achieve this except I think notated screenshots may be the most direct way to do this.

Ideally, we should implement the international multiple language Dokuwiki version with crowd source to ease conversion.
