OpenCPN Powerpoint Presentation
Folks...
I recently had the opportunity to make a presentation of OpenCPN to the annual meeting of the Seven Seas Cruising Association. ssca.org
We have made the presentation materials available for general download in two forms:
1. As a PDF file suitable for printing: http://bigdumboat.com/LTS/marion/OpenCPN%20SSCA2016.pdf
and..
2. As the original presentation in LibreOffice (.odp) format. This format includes a couple of embedded videos. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rpxqgti1gt...0SSCA.odp?dl=0
Feel free to view or download the presentation as you like. If the opportunity arises, use it locally to help build the OCPN knowledge base globally.
Enjoy
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Powerpoint Presentation
Dave, you should change the download link to:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rpxqgti1gt...0SSCA.odp?dl=1
( 1 and not 0 in the end ) to avoid to have to login to dropbox to be able to download the presentation directly,,

I've downloaded and installed LibreOffice 5.2.3.3 (64bit) and your original presentation from the links posted by petter5 and also from your link shown above.
In neither case am I able to show the embedded videos. Probably the loose nut on the operator control knob.
The slide with a video does nothing except show itself. Attached screen shot. Viewing in slide show mode is the same.

I have the same issue here LibreOffice 5.2.2.2 (Windows 64bit). I can see the videos in edit mode and play them with the play control at the bottom of the screen, but nothing autoplays in present view. There doesn't seem to be a key sequence either.
Could be this operators loose nut too.
Edit: It seems the format of the video may not be supported by Windows: see this thread . So how do I see what the format is?

Re: OpenCPN Powerpoint Presentation
Folks...
re. embedded videos:
This has driven me nuts. LibreOffice give no clues about whether the video will play, or which format to embed. Just depends on the CODECs available in the host system, I guess. I spent hours converting videos until I found a format that would play on my target presentation machine and backup. sigh....
I'll put the videos up on DropBox

Have fun!

re:

I found that I had to define a "Custom Animation" for those video slides to get them to autoplay. Find that in the right hand pane. Add an "Effect Start Media".
Evidently that setting is not persistent. Parts of LibreOffice are obtuse and not intuitive..
Good Luck

Dave
I just want to say thank you - a great tool to point new cruisers to - I was just explaining OpenCPN to some newbies when I found your thread. The PDF format is just magic for those who want a hard copy.
Cheers Sue

Ouaip Dave,
Ok, you're crazy ... but I like this wonderful madness.
That said, actually, on my PC, this slide is displayed but no more. And when it is studied, unless I am mistaken, it does not seem to contain a video.
N.B : I can see the two video, using some tools that I have in my PC. So ????

Re: OpenCPN Powerpoint Presentation
The first thing I noticed was that the Mac platform is not listed. I run OpenCPN on my Mac. OpenOffice runs the slides and I got it into Power Point as well. Everything runs except the video's. Thanks, you obviously put a lot of effort into the presentation.

Yep that worked.
Click sequence
Right menu -> Custom animation (yellow star) -> Add (+ sign) -> Misc effects -> Start media
I have to click to show it, it doesn't auto start but maybe that's hidden in there too.
Thanks!

And then choice "after the previous" ("Après le premier" in french on the screen copy here join)
Then save the diaporama and run it, or run the diapo, and normally, the video run automatically.

Re: OpenCPN Powerpoint Presentation
Hello Dave,
In December, I will be at the Nautic 2016, that is to say the nautical show of Paris. I will make several demonstrations of OpenCPN on the stand of the French forum H & O.
I translated, in French, your Powerpoint presentation of OpenCPN.
You can access it here:
DL.FREE.FR
I'm considering using this powerpoint for these OpenCPN demonstrations.
But it seems to me that you might be eager to see some modified slides, and in particular, at least the first and some other slides that feature photos.
Your opinion? Your wishes?
Gilletarom.
