Wink OpenCPN on Ubuntu ARM Notebooks

Hi. I purchased a new ARM Chromebook and installed Ubuntu ARM version on the Chromebook so I could install OpenCPN.

Has anyone compiled a version of the OpenCPN for Ubuntu ARM OS version 12.04 ?

When I tried to install from Downloads error said "i386 version", then I realised it was not going to install.

If anyone could compile for ARM Ubuntu I would be most grateful, as I do not know how to do that.

I have OpenCPN on Windows, but was looking for a small low-powered device such as the new ARM Chromebook for my boat. Sure others will be in similar boat.

Many thanks.

Re: OpenCPN on Ubuntu ARM Notebooks

I loaded Ubuntu on my Asus Chromebook and then followed the instructions in the OpenCPN user manual to install OpenCPN.

The install was apparently uneventful. When I launched the application, the program seemed to start ok, but then promptly shut down.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: OpenCPN on Ubuntu ARM Notebooks

You are trying to install the "i386 version".
Try
Ubuntu PPA | Official OpenCPN Homepage
and from the download page Download OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage

For Ubuntu Linux and it's derivatives (Linux Mint) and Debian Jessie based distributions, OpenCPN is distributed from a PPA If you are not sure how to add the repository to your system, read the chapter Configuring Ubuntu PPA in the user manual.

Re: OpenCPN on Ubuntu ARM Notebooks

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

I did install the Ubuntu PPA version, which seemed to go ok. When I open the application, I see the welcome screen. When I proceed from there, I see the "home" page for a second or two, and then the application shuts down.
