opencpn on mint

OK I am new to mint. I installed it and it seems to be ok. I installed opencpn and it runs. I went to "charts" and added files. It has the little circle indicating it is working but never finishes. No charts. I waited for 30 minutes or more. This is a slow computer but. Any ideas?

Did you unzip the Charts ? OpenCPN works perfect on the Mint system here. There must be a problem with the Charts.

Re: opencpn on mint

Charts were copied from a windows 7 file and not ziped.
They work fine under 7 and opencpn.

Download the chart again or any other Chart as a trial in Mint. I'am sure that it works in Linux Mint.

Reminder that in Linux files have rights and use another file system.

Re: opencpn on mint

The first thing to do in a situation like this is to check the opencpn.log.
Quote:
cat $HOME/.opencpn/opencpn.log
This log shows how OpenCPN "understands" things.
If this doesn't help you, publish the log file here.

Thanks Bram. It was the file permissions. I said I am new to mint.
