OpenCPN on Dell Latitude 7220

I'm looking at a Dell Latitude 7220 Rugged Extreme Tablet for use as a OpenCPN chart-plotter.

If you've used this Windows tablet as a chart-plotter, what has been your experience with it?

How well does the built-in GPS work?

If you've attached an AIS receiver to this tablet, how well has that worked and what receiver are you using?

It has a very bright screen setting (1000 nit). Is it bright enough during bright days?

Does the display dim well enough for use during dark nights?

Re: OpenCPN on Dell Latitude 7220

I have an earlier D630 ATG that has a sunlight viewable screen. I don't think it's as bright as 1000 nits BUT it is transflexive. In really bright sun it works best with the brightness turned down to minimum which is good for battery life! I wasn't aware the screen was transflexive when I bought it, so maybe the model you're considering also has the benefit of a similar screen?

"Transflective". I don't know if the Dell Latitude 7220 tablet has this feature, but I'll try to find out.

Thanks for the reply.
