OpenCPN not working correctly?

Hi to all
I use since years OpenCPN and have installed 1 CM93Ed2 and the USA NOAA charts.
Everything worked fine. I used to plot and then, transfer to Garmin GPS78 and done. Precise and correct sailing in the Gulf of Mexico, American Pacific down to Galapagos and finally on the European Atlantic coast.

Then, I installed version 4.0 and now, upgraded to 5.0 in order to try to correct the error from V 4.0. When opening OpenCPN, the charts displayed, but the upper half of my screen was split into 2 grey squares on the left and on the right of the upper screen. When zooming in, the grey shading disappears and I can look at the details. But at some moemnt the whole screen becomes grey.

Why is that? What is the error? I tried to update the programm, but the error continues...

It seems to me that the problem is in your Hardware/operating system.
I use v5 on Windows7 without any problems.
I would suggest that you describe your computer working environment in detail, maybe someone will have a bright idea.

Re: OpenCPN not working correctly?

Intel Graphic chips? Windows?
If so, search for updated drivers for the device.

Is this the message from the Windows Device Manager?

If yes, then search the Intel site directly. There is no guarantee that Windows installs the latest drivers - and in case of W10 you might need to re-install the latest one again after one of those W10 "function upgrades" every 6 months.

I have done all as you said and then at the end, OpenCPN crashed, so I uninstalled. Then, installed the new one from the link you gave me asthe one for HD 620 Intel Graphic and at least, it works like before, but with the error. So, I will try to go along with untill I find a software, that works properly. In the past before version 4.0 I did not have this problem ever, but I cannot get those versions anymore...

Tks anyway
