OPENCPN:no gps with android 10
Hi all
I bought Opencpn 5.6.2 for Samsung Tab A Android 10 tablet.
No GPS positioning:
-Internal GPS validated on Opencpn
- the gps works perfectly on 2 other mapping software
-Only Opencpn is allowed to use Gps
-uninstall and reinstall Opencpn.
The problem persists, can you give me a solution?
Thanks.

Re: OPENCPN:no gps with android 10
Have you tried another mapping application (such as Google Maps) to check if GPS works?
Has the tablet a good view of sky? Offen difficult to get good fix indoors... may take 15 mins if new location.
I had no issues with GPS on a Tab A... OpenCPN worked fine.

Re: OPENCPN:no gps with android 10
Hello, I am having a similar issue as above. On my brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab, OpenCPN will receive GPS, but if the tablet goes to sleep while OpenCPN is running, I stop receiving the GPS signal. Other apps such as Navionics will work fine. If I close OpenCPN and relaunch, it works fine again.
Regarding the Android Forum referenced, I have tried to sign up for it, but I never received a confirmation email, even after requesting a new one, so I can't get in. That forum seems to be dead....
thanks,
Dale

Do you have the paid version of OpenCPN by Dave Register? The other version is very old and has lots of problems.

Re: OPENCPN:no gps with android 10
There is a setting in OpenCPN to stop tablet from sleeping:
- 3 dots upper right corner
- "Display" settings
- select "Do not sleep"

Re: OPENCPN:no gps with android 10
Thanks so much for your reply, this definitely got me going down the right track. What I found while going into settings, on the left side of the screen there’s an option for connections, and then within connections, there’s enable continuous GPS tracking. Even while paused/asleep. Checking this box, fixed the problem!
I appreciate the help and support!
